It's time we talk about the things we grew up being told we shouldn't talk about as not talking about it doesn't make it go away rather it just makes it more isolating and disconnected!   I promise you this will be 30 minutes well worth your time as it's time we shift our mindset and open our perspective!    I cover each of these tips on the show as well:  Recognize that anxiety is normal and its ok to not be ok and being ok with that is a step in the right direction  Identify the good distractions not by do they push you forward or back but rather what do we do that provides us relief Own what you can & can’t control by tracking your desired end result with what needs to happen for that to occur.  Don’t let others determine how you want to connect while also being creative with how you allows others to connect to you Self-love is not selfish it’s necessary in you becoming your best self which will help you help others Own your feelings, giving yourself time to feel and own that feeling will empower you to gain clarity in the moment and in the future feel better faster  Give yourself a break and manage your expectations  Be kind to others and embrace the role lifting up others has on you as the kindness both giving and receiving can be often times all we need to move forward EXCLUSIVE OFFER from our Sponsor Restream: 50% off discount for the lifetime of Restream ENDS OF OCTOBER 31st!  Use code: ISOCIALFANZ https://restream.io/pricing?promoCode=ISOCIALFANZ
I’ve had this episode ready to go for many weeks but I wanted to fine-tune each of the lessons and be very strategic with how I approached them and give detailed examples and actions we can learn from each.   So hopefully you are in for a longer episode and if you have the pause and come back later I 100% understand that but I FIRMLY BELIEVE that EVERYONE can get something from this episode and hope it will be a favorite episode of yours…  The 6 lessons I breakdown in this episode: Everyone has Influence & Power: Everyone can create video but it isn’t as easy as it looks When everything is Virtual is anything Virtual What really matters shines bright when we pause not unplug Transparency & Vulnerability are Non-Negotiable WE are MORE ALIKE than we are DIFFERENT “Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.” ― Benjamin Franklin Links mentioned in this episode Interview Podcast: Press The Damn Button: www.BrianFanzo.com/Pressthedamnbutton Brant Menswar new book Black Sheep: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1989603440/?ref=exp_isocialfanz_dp_vv_d New Virtual Events YouTube Channel: www.youtube.com/brianfanzovx CONGRATS TO OUR SPONSOR: Restream Rasing 50mil  https://techcrunch.com/2020/08/27/restream-raises-50m-to-help-creators-program-and-stream-to-multiple-platforms/ -- Sponsored and Multi-streamed by Restream.io EXCLUSIVE OFFER from our Sponsor Restream: 50% off discount for lifetime of Restream  ENDS OF OCTOBER 31st!  Use code: ISOCIALFANZ https://restream.io/pricing?promoCode=ISOCIALFANZ What is Restream: Stream live video to 30+ social platforms AT THE SAME TIME with Restream.io.  Go live on YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter to reach a wider audience.  Restream Live Studio allows you to broadcast directly from your browser and invite guests or co-hosts to your live show.  Restream: https://restream.io/join/PTDB
Live #Podcast Recording of #FOMOFanz the Brian Fanzo show Multistreaming and sponsored by Restream.IO https://restream.io/?ref=PGOMW FOMOFanz began as a selfish content creation method for me. I was already hosting two interview shows, and running two twitter chats, and I had reached a point of live streaming just to live stream was no longer in my brand strategy. But I knew I needed something that would keep me in the live streaming game, but I didn't want to manage another podcast or live show with guests and other people's calendars... So I thought what if I did a solo podcast and could record whenever I want and talk about whatever I want... GENIUS! Since it's launching, the name has changed from F.O.M.O.Fanz to FOMOFanz to FOMO Fanz and the mission statement went from "Helping you embrace your fear of missing out" to "Helping you cure your fear of missing out." In typical form for content I create, I had a broad "niche" that I would attempt to squeeze into. Still, quickly after 5 episodes, I realized as the CEO of Team No Niche that it was just silly. I would talk about a wide range of topics and bring the conversation back to help understand the changing future... After launching an interview podcast called "Press The Damn Button" I was presented with the question of what I should do with this podcast. Should I merge it within FOMOFanz or keep it separate. Press The Damn Button is modeled after my favorite podcast Arm Chair Expert by Dax Shepard. He does a great job of having a mix of content with interviews, live shows, and "expert on expert" that live within Armchair expert but also have separate feeds. Before, I decided what I was going to do with FOMOFanz March 2020 hit. Then after attempting to record two episodes and not feeling it for the first time in the 4+ years of the show, I realized anything with the concept of "fear" in it while dealing with a pandemic isn't appropriate. This was also the perfect excuse/valid reason to pause FOMOFanz and move forward with Press The Damn Button. Enter August 2020, 5 months after the pause. I was fielding lots of comments about if the show would come back, and many of 2019 episodes were getting some fantastic downloads still. So 168 days after pausing the show, it's been renamed, rebranded, and remodeled once again to FOMOFanz: The Bran Fanzo Podcast. And as I reflect back on the 1,370 days since launching FOMOFanz, I'm genuinely thankful for each and every listener that has given me their time. Allowed me to share my thoughts. Allowed me to use this podcast to rant. Allowed me to vent and in many cases, use this show as my own self-therapy. I'm genuinely thankful for each of you and excited for what is next! -- Sponsored and Multi-streamed by Restream.io Stream live video to 30+ social platforms AT THE SAME TIME with Restream.io Go live on YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter to reach a wider audience. There are a ton of tips, blog posts and videos on what you need to do to be successful working from home thanks to the coronavirus forcing so many companies to mandate working from home for their employees.   As someone that has worked from home managing teams as a government contractor for 4 years then went back into the office for 2 years and then working from home for the last 5 years as an entrepreneur I thought it would be of value to share what I've learned works and doesn't work both for me and for those that I've managed. Interestingly enough the first time I worked from home was prior to being diagnosed ADHD and just that little difference transformed how I approach my work from home life and the way I manage my day. On this episode I cover Why you working from home is much bigger than just you! The importance of balancing expectations as a manager, employee and entrepreneur Why I believe most that work from home burn out and how to avoid it? What to do to avoid the frustration and overcompensating that comes with out of site and out of mind! Importance of calendar blocking and assigning a time with an alarm to certain daily tasks Why you should track the amount of actual “work hours” you did work in the office before trying to map out your work from home day! Why most focus on productivity tips & avoiding distractions and I think you should focus on redefining the 9-5 workday.  My number 1 tip in regards to motivating myself to work harder and accomplish tasks and why Chipotle is my secret weapon.  I will be doing some additional videos and content on working from home over the next couple weeks including how I logged and videotaped myself to really double down on being self-aware and adapting my work habits to how I work not the other way around. Over the last 10 days, we've seen massive events such as Facebook's F8, Mobile World Congress, IBM Think, and Oracle ModernCX announce that they were canceling their global conferences in the wake of the coronavirus epidemic. This epidemic is having a global impact and closer to home its decimating the meetings industry, and the question we have to start asking is how should planners, brand marketers, and professional speakers be thinking about the future of live events?  Now in context, this disruption is minor compared to those dealing with family members getting sick or dying thanks to this coronavirus, and our thoughts go out to them.  In this episode, I'm joined by a good friend and fellow speaker Erin King who happened to have spent a decade in live event digital marketing. We discuss the epidemic impact on our industries, but more so, the digital OPPORTUNITIES are presenting themselves for both keynote speakers and event planners.  There's no right way or one-way to handle this forced change, and we've seen some events announce that they will be moving to a "global first digital event," while others have postponed the event till 2021.   Erin and I have both spent years in this industry, both planning backstage AND performing onstage. From this unique perspective, in this episode, we share our predictions, recommendation, and ideas around:  How agile planners, marketers, and speakers can re-invent the venue and capitalize on what is actually an exciting opportunity  Why only streaming a keynote via webinar is not a good enough alternative to live   How production schedules can get more creative, immersive and interactive to deliver more compelling experiences for remote audiences  How the roles of event production teams will have to evolve with this "new normal" of experiential  How to elevate your internal budget and planning discussions from "which functionality" to "what type of format"  Why in tumultuous times, organizations need education, inspiration, and motivation more than ever, regardless of the medium used to deliver it  What we believe is the number 1 shift that must occur in the content and format of digital events to "re-invent the venue" and embrace the non-captured attention of a digital attendee. Why and how almost EVERY digital platform and software has gotten online conferences wrong. Why we, like speakers and event planners, must coordinate and collaborate on an audience-first approach to supplement what sponsors, attendees, and executives are now missing. Why the future is bright, and digital opportunities are endless Now let's be real; there's a reason digital events haven't replaced offline conferences over the last 10 years as nothing will 100% replace the handshake and in-person networking experience.   But both Erin and I believe that this is going to spark a NEW approach to digital events that have been long overdue. In the past, let's face it we're just back to back webinars labeled as "online conference" or a brand live streaming the audio of speakers online and calling that a digital summit. There will be much more to come on this topic, and some details will be shared soon on the offerings and exact plans Erin and I have in the works to help facilitate these ideas that we discuss on the show. In the meantime pick up Erin's book and give her a follow on social media Erin King is Founder of Socialite Agency, a firm specializing in digital communication for live events like The Oscars and others. After spending a decade as a live event digital marketer, she transitioned full-time onto the professional speaking circuit with the publication of her Amazon best-selling book, "Digital Persuasion." “Done is Better than Perfect” “If you don’t ask you won’t get!” Way back in August of 2018 an “Analytical Nerd with a Soft Spot for Strategy” saw me give a video storytelling workshop in Wichita and reached out via Twitter DM to say she was inspired and a fan.  She followed up with supportive messages and offering to collaborate in October and November but it wasn’t until Jan when she nudged me again and provided some SEO analysis of my website and digital footprint did she stop me in my tracks.  Since then Brie E Anderson has been working with me on SEO, podcast show notes, blog writing, book editing and more.  On this episode, Brie jumps on and we have a chat about her willingness to make cold asks, her unique background which includes a degree in social media marketing and her ability to think like me which has empowered a fun partnership which will be taken to the next step with a new project we are releasing next month.    On this episode we talk about episode 122 “A Digital Futurist Mindset” as Brie calls out aspects of that episode that stood out to her as well as her take on topics such as today’s analysts, social media marketing success, education in its current state (she’s an adjunct professor at WSU Tech) and more… I have a feeling you guys are going to really enjoy Brie’s unique insights and her ability to push me to discuss topics in more detail and recall moments that I’ve forgotten or overlooked.  As you’ll hear in the show I’m launching a new interview podcast later this month and Brie will play a producer and “fact checking” role on that new show which we can’t wait to debut.  Till then give Brie a follow on her social’s below and as always thanks for listening! Brian is fired up and excited for what the future holds and the big changes he has in store.  On this episode, he shares that excitement while also giving ACTIONABLE advice on what every brand, small business and entrepreneur must do today to move away from "Future-Proof" and empower a Future-Ready business! Brian was the first government contractor to brief the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon and not wear a suit and tie. The result of his presentation (on recruiting government employees) sparked a conversation around the importance of conformity versus empowering people for success. He paved the way for positive change in the toughest, regulated environment. Everyone gets excited about new trends and technologies, but the successful adoption of new ideas requires a culture that enables and supports the change. Technology should bring people together, not push them apart. In this program, Brian teaches how to leverage new technology and collaboration tools in order to achieve better business results. (Spoiler alert… his advice might surprise you!)   Before you focus on the next shiny object, you must first set the course for your business, learn how to embrace innovation, and identify the right technology for today. “We need to attract a younger audience!” “We need to do Snapchat & TikTok as our membership is all over 40” “We want diversity and younger people but I guess they don’t like joining associations!” These are just some of the statements that are made when I’m brought in to give a keynote or workshop with an association as they believe “I have the secret weapon for reaching those pesky kids under the age of 40”. The truth is what they are saying is our membership numbers are going down, our members are getting older and we’ve tried every social network and non of them seem to work... On this episode Brian breaks down some of the key mindset shifts needed to attract this younger more "digitally plugged" consumer:  Telling Great Stories and Wanting To Be A Storyteller Aren’t The Same Shrink The Distance Without Removing the Exclusivity Members Treasure Provide exclusive access Experiences over Benefits: Be Part Of The Conversation Without Having To Own It Hire Brian To Speak At Your Next Event! TikTok took over the social media world in 2019 and as with any new app some people love it, some people bash it and some people are just too overwhelmed to care. I decided to dive in about 18 months ago to see what it was about and I've been on it almost every day since.  But funny enough my focus hasn't been about getting TikTok Famous or even how to market on TikTok rather what about this app can we learn from to use in our other marketing. So on this episode I breakdown a wide range of lessons I've discovered about TikTok as a marketer but if you want to learn TikTok or become TikTok famous you can read the Social Media Examiner blog post linked below as my focus is: Not about HOW to use TikTok or really WHAT marketers should do on TikTok rather WHY and where else can we implement what’s working on Tiktok. I discuss: Putting fun into social media Best social app for sharing to other social apps My 9 year old Daughters first opinion of the app How the "For You Page" inspires creativity and the hope of being discovered without a following Different formats 15, 60 and live streaming  The amazing ability it has of helping you find your tribe or content that you want in that moment. The most popular groups and types of content I found and was inspired by. How collaboration is an essential part of the app. Yes music is a massive part but all of the other features are for 'sound off' listening which is super smart. How to understand the recent news about TikTok privacy and military banning TikTok. I hope I inspire you at the end of the episode to think differently about TikTok and the next shinny object as you don't have to be everywhere but it's important to learn from what's working to be better where you are currently marketing!
Since 2010 I've had the experience of being hired as an influencer, hired to create influencer strategies and run influencer campaigns for brands not to mention buying many many things as a consumer influenced by other influencers.  So on this episode I breakdown this first decade of Social Media Influencer Marketing on what we can learn, how far it came and where it will take us in the future.  Two articles I mentioned in this episode: Goodbye to the Influencer Decade, and Thanks for Nothing People Are Poking Holes in Influencer Tactics – What Comes Next? Want to hear more on my take on influencer marketing or have me speak at your brand or association on the topic visit my speaker website www.BrianFanzo.com to check out my current programs on the topic!
On this episode, I share MY TAKE on a couple of buzz heavy marketing experiences that I believe were a combination of controversial, genius and a product of today's world.  I can promise you won't hear this take from most marketers or advertising gurus but IMHO all 3 of these examples are great for studying what not to do, what to do and why sometimes doing what you shouldn't becomes the best thing you've done. On this episode I share how raising my hand has been the key to my success as someone that wants to please everyone and is often afraid to make an ask for what I want....   Yes these quotes are true but for some of us it's still scary and there's another way to make this work: "If you don't ask, you don't get." - Stevie Wonder "Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it." - Charles R. So it's crazy to think that I would go back to school.... Well yes because that isn't happening but I did get a chance to do a guest lecture at UW-Madison today for Life Sciences Communication 432 course thanks to professor Don Stanley! And WOW was it fun answering questions and sharing my thoughts on personal branding, social media and telling stories... So much fun that I decided to use their questions as the basis of this episode sharing what they asked and what I learned from them. On this episode we talk: Where to start creating content? How to get your content in front of your audience How to discover your online voice What strategy works for sharing content across multiple channels How to deal with having different passions and wanting to share them on one account How to grow your following and stand out when you have only 2 followers and those are your mom and your professor What content is best for when you're starting out What should your first blog be The value of #BeYourself And many more... This episode is for you & if not for you I bet you have people in your community that could use this advice!
The most popular question I’ve gotten over the last 12 months is around what tools do I use to build my personal brand.  And more importantly, how do I leverage these tools as part of my overall social strategy. There is no one-size-fits-all secret tool combination for personal branding success.  The main reason I haven’t blogged about all my tools is that I use A LOT of tools. And, I don’t believe any tool is the one perfect tool that does everything. On that same note, I don’t believe every person should use the exact same tools in the exact same way.  Not to mention that tools and social media platforms are changing so rapidly it’s hard to stay up to date with all the features and functions. With all that being said I decided to breakdown the tools I use into different sections and provide you a quick overview of each tool that I use. Please note: just because I use it doesn’t mean it’s a perfect fit for you. -- Had planned on sharing all the links for all the apps and tools and gear in the show notes but I couldn't get the formatting right so I will be creating a new landing page on iSocialFanz.com to support all of the tools and gear mentioned on this episode.  https://www.isocialfanz.com Website: Wix.com: Fabl.co:  CRM: Nimble.com Copper CRM for Gmail Accounting Software: Freshbooks Email Marketing:  Emma Email Social Media Marketing: Scheduling:  AgoraPulse: http://www.agorapulse.com?fp_ref=isocialfanz Buffer Content Consumption: Flipboard Content Research / Social Listening: Buzzsumo RivalIQ SEMrush: https://www.semrush.com/sem/?ref=0522534561&refer_source=&utm_source=berush&utm_medium=promo&utm_campaign=link Video editing & Marketing:  Camtasia - Easy Pro Editing Quicc.io - Captions http://cap.quicc.io/signup?fpr=isocialfanz VideoshopApp - Resizing Live Video Streaming: Ecamm Live: https://www.ecamm.com/mac/ecammlive/?fp_ref=brian51 Switcher Studio Podcast Editing & Hosting: Audacity Garageband Host:  Libsyn.com Mobile content creation: VideoshopApp Canva Wordswag Adobe Spark Post:  Gear: (Amazon Links): https://amazon.com/shop/isocialfanz# Tripod / Case:  iOgrapher Mobile Phone Case iOgrapher Flexible Tripod Manfrotto Tripod & iPhone holder Audio:  Rode Boom Mic Saramonic: UwMic 15 Systems Podcast microphone: Heil PR40 or Blue Vlog Camera: Sony RX100V Home Office desk: Autonomous.IO Standing Desk Full list of gear on my Amazon Influencer page:https://amazon.com/shop/isocialfanz#
I don't love and preach about the power of social media because I think of it as entertainment or want to become famous or even grow followers as I'm all about leveraging these platforms to grow my business. In 2018, Over 80% of my revenue was generated via social media and for the first time I decided to breakdown my strategy for content and social media on the FOMOFanz podcast. We are living in times of division, change, innovation, revolution, resolution and chaos so the question becomes Who Wins The Future of Business? On this episode, I focus on breaking down my insights coming out of multiple marketing events with the themes of trust, collaboration, sales & marketing merging, video and "they ask you answer" Questions and themes of this episode are: - How we have to learn from "content for content sake" mistakes in regards to the business value of video. - Role of emotion and connectivity in marketing skills - Why things are only going to get worse in the next 15 months and we have start preparing today. - Role of ME in empathy - Swiss-Army Knife is key but that doesn't mean master of nothing rather understanding of multiple different aspects. - What we must do today as we prepare for more disruption and divide in the world, our business and personal life.    Press The Damn Button with These Sponsors: iOgrapher.com + Fabl.co + Fiverr.com Also, listen till the end to know which Instagram post you need to comment #Tripod to win a tripod from iOgrapher! http://www.instagram.com/isocialfanz Fabl.Co powering BrianFanzo.com Fabl is the content marketer's tool for powering ongoing publishing efforts, rather than the comprehensive website CMS or a simple landing page builder. 84% of all internet traffic but 2022 will be video!! (via Cisco Index Report) Video is no longer a nice to have or something I have to spend time on stages or on the podcast convincing people of it’s value but when it comes to using video or convincing non-believers of video this is something we aren’t great at.  On this episode, I’m going to use video as my focus but really I’m going to share my thoughts on: How to get others to buy in on your ides How to get your sales team on board with trying video How to convince your boss to change without forcing it Where you should use video across your company Why video doesn’t replace what we do offline How to get as close as possible to a physical handshake online Importance of Pressing The Damn Button but trying out all types of video from vertical to horizontal to produced to live to walk and talking to at your desk. Where you should start with video and it’s not on a social media platform. Press The Damn Button is my mantra but it’s more than just pressing the button once it’s about managing expectations, trying out all the different ways of sharing your story and understanding the value of putting yourself out there.  There is no easy button or short cut and video won’t replace anything you do offline but I firmly believe if you listen to this episode and do what the things I told you to do that video will be a game-changer for your business no matter if you’re an entrepreneur, salesperson, CMO, small business owner, college graduate or retired investment broker.  Press The Damn Button with These Sponsors: iOgrapher.com + Fabl.co + Fiverr.com Also listen till the end to know which Instagram post you need to comment #Tripod to win a tripod from iOgrapher! http://www.instagram.com/isocialfanz Fabl.Co powering BrianFanzo.com Fabl is the content marketer's tool for powering ongoing publishing efforts, rather than the comprehensive website CMS or a simple landing page builder. One of the big success elements of the season 1 podcast I did with Amy Landino called "Just Try This" was people felt as if they were sitting on the couch listening to a conversation more so than an interview.   With this season of FOMOFanz I've teased out the fact that I would be having more guests on the show and this week we start with a bang as I have my good friend, millennial marketing geek and all-around awesome dude Taj Forer the co-founder of Fabl.co on the show. Taj and I have been good friends for years and get to see each other at a couple of different events a year and not only do we geek out about marketing but also life, entrepreneurship and the fun generational twists that we both experience as we are almost the exact same age.   On this episode, I have Taj share some of his experience moving from the Art design world to the publishing world to now the SaaS martech world with Fabl.co who is also a sponsor of this podcast and the platform I use to host BrianFanzo.com What we talk about on this episode: - Why the current state of marketing makes us bitter yet excited about the future? - When looking at marketing and content today should we focus on solutions or problems or a combo of both? - What role "design thinking" and creativity should play within software, content and our marketing department - Why Taj loves the Olympics and I love American Ninja Warrior and both of us love them not for the actual sporting aspects. This action-packed episode is full of great insights and we didn't even get to some in-depth discussions I wanted to have on making the world a better place with online change and the entrepreneur journey good, bad & ugly...  So I will be having Taj on again next month to breakdown those topics but for now I hope you enjoyed this episode and make sure to give Taj a follow on social at: https://twitter.com/tajforer DOUBLE SPONSOR SHOW! You're tuning in to a SPECIAL episode where you're going to hear the stories and life lessons that I still leverage today from managing my families yogurt shop at 15 years old and traveling to Iraq and Afghanistan while working in cybersecurity for the US government. I was recently challenged by some friends that I didn't leverage or reference my crazy unique background enough within my keynotes or on my podcast and after some self-examination, they were right.  So I decided to do what I always do and embrace the change adding a brand new 20-minute intro segment to my Press The Damn Button keynote at Social Media Day San Diego event this past week. You'll hear the story of how my Dad didn't close up our family yogurt shop when Dairy Queen moved into the same shopping center and how the soldiers I worked with as a government contractor taught me the importance of empathy, self-awareness and leveraging technology to make us never feel alone even on the battlefields of Iraq.  Shoutout to our NEW sponsor FABL.CO My new speaker website BrianFanzo.com has been getting some amazing feedback and I'm excited to share that it's built on @fablco platform. Fabl is is a Content Experience Platform, transforming the process by which rich-media-enabled, on-brand content pages are built, managed and deployed. Built for marketers, Fabl eliminates dependency on web teams, design teams, marketing operations, external agencies and all of the time and cost that comes along with them.   Does it really work, hell yes it does: The average time on a page of content built with Fabl (across all clients, all industry verticals) is 3 minutes and 17 seconds. That's an engagement increase of more than 5x compared the web at-large.    For a demo, visit: fabl.co/demo   Fanzo fans receive a free month of service if they sign-up for an account before August 1st.
