The Prince of Wales has led centenary commemorations for the Battle of Passchendaele at Tyne Cot.

Almost 12,00 servicemen are buried at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Cemetery. The memorial also bears the names of nearly 35,000 men who died in the Ypres Salient 100 years ago.

Prolonged rain during the offensive turned the battlefield into a swamp where Allied Forces sustained over 320,000 casualties.
