Every journey begins with a single step into the unknown. When it comes to a D&D podcast, From Afar is quite possibly one of the most preeminent ways to begin yours into the vast and expansive realm that is Dungeons & Dragons. David and cast are quick to settle into a lighthearted mood with hilarious hijinks and unforgettable jokes... To their even more complex and heart-wrenching backstories. To take you from A to Z, although not always in a straight line (in fact, never), while keeping you on the edge of your seat, exalted to hear more of this growing world until the all too familiar sound of the episodes end. Cliff-hangers imminent.Following alongside Kipa, Sieghart, and Aereus, is David's myriad of memorable collection of characters and a vocal range that makes you sometimes forget that this is just one person behind them all. Being able to follow alongside these four boys is like getting your cake, eating it too, and still having enough left over the next day. The only disappointment is the two week waiting period between each episode, the antagonising feeling of not knowing what will happen next.To merely state that FAP is an amazing podcast is a severe understatement and a near disservice to this group of boys and their hard work. To not give them the time of day is, in fact, a disfavour towards yourself. Do not idle any longer, sit down, shut up, and welcome yourself to the From Afar Podcast.
Great and fun group of guys! Especially that hobgoblin fellow; I bet he would be a swell friend to have. Good looking too.
Firstly I must say this podcast has some great production quality and it just gets better. Right off the hop you are immersed by sfx and ambiance that drift you right into this salty tale of goofs and glory. The cast has some good chemistry together and there is no awkward pausing or ideas that don't fly, they are fairly good at just running with what each other is trying to do. David, the DM, paces the story well and the level of detail and explanation really do the story justice as they start asking the right questions and dipping their toes into the plot water. Great job all around, excited to listen to more!
Where to begin? The From Afar Podcast crew is one of the most talented, funny, clever, and creative bunch of people I've encountered in the TTRPG podcast community. With an incredibly high production value, a hilarious cast of both characters and NPCs, and a blend of comedy and drama that is *just right*, you can't go wrong listening to these guys. Between Sieghart's stoicism, Aereus' gruffness, and Kipa's irrepressible humor, it's only a matter of time before youwill call yourself a FAP head, too!PS - I would die for Patrick. That's all.
This show is fantastic, from the brilliant story telling, to the level of dedication each of the players have is amazing. All of them seem to understand the importance of improv at the table so things run very smoothly. David is an expert story teller and the quality of acting, audio and music for this show is amazing. Bravo to the DM and all the players
I’ve been binge-listening this pod and really enjoying the adventure! Great quality audio, evocative soundtrack and fx and involving characters that get you into the story. I recommend you set sail!
They say the mark of a great show is that it can suck you in from the get go, where you can get enraptures by everything within the first few seconds. From Afar Podcast accomplishes that and then some. A fantastic backdrop with a focus on the high seas is complemented by amazing audio quality, making fans feel like they are aboard the ship with the party.Speaking of which, the team is fantastic. Sieghart, Aereus and Kipa masterfully balance moments of levity with everything needed to advance the plot effectively. The player's experience with each other's playstyles and strengths is on full display. It must be said that the DM, David, is well versed in finding that balance and teasing the line just enough that the listener gets pulled in wondering what might happen next. He has a keen sense of when a dash of humor is needed and when it is time to buckle down.If you haven't started listening to From Afar, you are certainly missing out on one of the truly great shows in the genre. They have the kind of show that many of us in the industry aspire to, and you would be all the better for listening!
From Afar PodcastThanks so much friend! Your words are the FUEL to our CREATIVE FIRE!
A genuine expression of friendship, and a lot of fun! Definitely worth sticking with :)
This is by far one of my favorite role playing podcasts! The characters are all hilarious, the story is absolutely amazing, and the quality is top notch. It is really easy to follow this show and get hooked!
This truly is an amazing, nautical adventure! The story is amazing, the cast is brilliant, and the audio quality is top notch. If you're looking for a story that you can really dive into, this is the place to be!
David and crew kill it on the reg. Love them.
What could be better than a bunch of pirates on a magical ship searching for Atlantis? Add in a carrot goblin mascot, tons of humor, epic characters, and an awesome cast. There's also a discord server dedicated to the show built by @noxbatty(twitter) where you can talk with other fans & the cast about the show! This was the first podcast of any kind I listened to, & I'm happy that I chose From Afar. Can't wait to see where this ship sails!
These guys bring a marine-based adventure to life with solid sound quality and storytelling.
From Afar is one of the most successful podcasts I've heard for combining table work and an edited story experience. I often have trouble with too much table talk as they take away from my enjoying of the story that a party is weaving, yet this group has a really great sense of when to make jokes, how to incorporate those jokes into the narratives, and when to let them go to get back to the story. The DM does a fantastic job of navigating this as well, it's really a fantastic addition to the ttrpg landscape.
Good podcast, even better people! This D&D podcast is a must listen for those looking for fresh storylines to follow.
If you're looking for a story to lose yourself in, go give them a listen! They do a great job of cutting everything down and having no dead space. From bouncing between table jokes and fun play to great story moments, the From Afar Podcast is worth your time to check out! WMS stamp of amazingness!
This is an extremely well produced AP d&d podcast by some very talented actors! The jokes and cannonballs fly non-stop in this nautical romp, so if you like your adventure with a good dose of hilarity, come on board!!!
