Behind the Scenes at Endurance GB
It's nice to meet the face behind the name of people you usually only hear from in emails. So I was pleased to be able to interview Esther Young, the Operations Director of Endurance GB and Darren Butler who keeps things running smoothly at head office.Regular slots - Tried and Tested features the free app EquiBioSafe and, just because I love them, this month's random fact! (well several this time actually)
Bonus Content: Interview with Rebecca Kinnarney; Chairperson of Endurance GB
At this interview I ask Chairperson Rebecca Kinnarney what the future holds for EGB. This interview was recorded a little while ago but I haven't had anything I could add to it to make a complete episode -  its too good a clip to waste so I decided to upload it as bonus content.
Bonus Content: Pilot Study into the effect of Rider Weight on Horses: EGB Welfare Conference 2019
This is a recording of the talk given by Dr Sue Dyson: Head of Clinical Orthopedics at the Animal Health Trust at the Endurance GB Welfare Conference.  It explains about a pilot study undertaken in order to evaluate the effect of rider weight on horses performance and welfare.
Saddlery and a talk with the Society of Master Saddlers
I talk to Catherine Morris from the Society of Master Saddlers about how the Society started and the surprisingly large range of areas they now cover.  I also interview Sam Wuczke, one of the saddle fitters at local equestrian superstore RB Equestrian (pretty much my favourite shop of all time!)Regular slots - Tried and Tested features stirrups for endurance riding and, just because I love them, this month's random fact!
Bonus Content: Horse Welfare in Endurance - Why Care?: EGB Welfare Conference 2019
This is a recording of a talk given by Roly Owers at the Endurance GB Welfare Conference on 25th May 2019. Roly is the Chief Executive of World Horse Welfare. He explores the public perception of endurance and the implications of welfare issues for equestrian sport in general.
The Role of Charity in Horse Welfare
I was lucky enough to be asked to help out at Royal Windsor Horse Show this May. In my free time I managed to grab interviews with Roly Owers from World Horse Welfare; Karen Thompson (mum of Hovis the Destroyer); Gemma Waller of Bransby Horse Rescue and Belinda Davis of Equissage. All interviews were recorded live at a very busy event and in slightly dodgy weather, so the sound quality is unfortunately variable.  And of course, as always, I finish with this month's fun fact!
Bonus Content: Biosecurity: EGB Welfare Conference 2019
This is a recording of a talk given by Tom Eaton Evans at the Endurance GB Welfare Conference on 25th May 2019. Tom is a Newmarket Equine Hospital veterinarian; 4* FEI Endurance treatment official and 2* FEI endurance veterinarian. With the recent Equine Flu outbreaks having caused chaos across all sorts of events this Spring; Tom's talk is a timely reminder of the routines which can be put in place to protect our horses and those of others.
Exploring the role of the Technical Steward
I talk to head Technical Steward (TS) Stevie Martin and one of her colleagues about their role within Endurance GB rides. I also discuss activities at the volunteers conference earlier this year.Regular Slots: Just because I love them - this month's random fact!
