We're here! This is just a little taste of Harmonize with Nina and Kenya. Besties out here living life, and trying to make it all HARMONIZE! Balance is a lie!!! There is no such thing, but that's what "they" try to sell us all the time. Nina and Kenya are out here trying to shine a light and spread the truth, chile! Come on and laugh with us as we try to share a little of what we've learned. <3
It's been a long time Harmonizers, but you are in for a treat! The women of Hashtag Booked, Danielle Pinnock, and LaNisa Fredrick joined Nina for a conversation last August. Life happened and we never got to drop the episode (and we took another long hiatus) BUT, the conversation is still so timely, we talk about being Black, being a woman, being an artist, being a partner and ALL THE THINGS! (Did we get them all? Its been a minute, LOL!)  Just dive in, you'll be glad you did. Here are the links to Hashtag Booked, because we KNOW you are going to want to follow them everywhere after you hear the show.  On Social Media: HashtagBooked on IG HashtagBooked on YouTube HashtagBooked.com Articles about them: In Essence Magazine Forbes: Being a Creative in Quarantine Other Places you can find them: Black Girl Voice Over World Interview Shondaland!!!   And don't forget your faves!  We want to hear from you! This week Nina & Kenya dive into the Mailbag and address a new Mommy's meltdown in real time: What do you do when you are just EXHAUSTED?  How do you give yourself grace to feel what you feel when you know others may have it harder than you?  What do you do when you want to be an artist, but you have to feed the baby and pay the bills?  Lawd, it can be hard sometimes! We talk about all of this and address an article that came out the same time as this question: Vox Article We want to hear from you! Kenya feels like Simba in the desert. Nina is sad because fall is taking a long time. But, then she gets over it. People lied to us, those old sayings are longer than what they taught us. We dig deeper. We talk about artists who inspired our work as we remember Ntozake Shange and the ancestors. The Black Panther Party for Self Defense was founded in October 1966. 2) The title of #BlackPanther is a ceremonial one. It’s hereditary. All monarchs of Wakanda are known as the Black Panther. King T’Challa is the current Black Panther. 3) Black Panther is the first black super hero in “mainstream” comics. 4) T’Challa has a PhD in Physics from Oxford University. His nemesis in the film Erik Killmonger (M. B. Jordan) has his PhD in Engineering from MIT. 5) T’Challa was married to Storm (marriage was annulled after 6 years) In an alternate timeline they had a son named Azari. 6) Due to a meteorite crash in Wakanda, the country has a rare mineral resource called vibranium (Captain America’s shield is a mix of vibranium and steel) 7) Wakanda is the most technologically advanced country on earth and it has never been colonized by any European nation. 8 The Dora Milaje are the elite warrior women who protect Black Panther. They are also known as the Adored Ones/Midnight Angels. 9) Black Panther is faster than Wolverine and Captain America, he can run up to 50 MPH. 10) Black Panther is immune from all diseases, he is the richest man in the Marvel universe, his suit is bulletproof, and his superpowers include hearing, sight, smell, and strength.
