In 1997, thirty-nine people took their own lives in an apparent mass suicide. The events captivated the media and had people across the planet asking the same question... ‘Why?’ 20 years later, those who lost loved ones and those who still believe - tell their story. Hosted by Glynn Washington of Snap Judgment. "Heaven's Gate: The Cult of Cults," is now a four-part docuseries inspired by this podcast, streaming on HBO Max.

This is about the people involved in this heartbreaking story and the people who were affected by it. Excellent storytelling. Highly recommended.
The host handled the topic with a perspective I haven't seen before. It's easy to label the followers of cults as insane or deluded, that they're an other. The stories, interviews and recordings featured in the podcast reveal how human they were, and tells their story with compassion and empathy.
Really interesting look into the history of the Heaven's Gate cult. Interesting insight into the nature of cults in general, too.
