really enjoying this one and can’t wait for more!!! i love radio-style shows, and hell gate is a wonderful addition to the mix. sprinkled with the perfect kind of dark comedy, and the wonderfully intriguing sense that *something* is happening. furthermore, kirby is an interesting host to follow, as is the world taking shape all around. i’m v excited to see how things are going to move forward!!!
A hilarious, well produced fictional radio show! I believe there's only one actor (correct me if I'm wrong) but he's amazing at carrying on so many roles! I'm invested in Kirby's well being and excited to hear more in season 2~
Hell Gate CityMany thanks! Really loved your actors and sound design.
This podcast's humor caught me off guard and had my SO cracking up next to me as well. It's a dark comedy told in the style of Welcome to Night Vale, whose echoes definitely reverberate through some episodes (in a good way!). If you've enjoyed shows like WtNV and A Voice From Darkness, give this a shot. You won't regret it!
Hell Gate CityRad. Thank you so much for the kind words!
This show is clearly a labor of love and shines through like a beacon of truth and humor in a world of darkness and... Oh. Wait. Can I review my own show? Yes. Yes, I can. Enjoy!
HELL GATE CITY is a one part mixture of radio broadcast (a neo-noir New York City) to one part missing person’s case, which spirals into a case of missing identity. A radio DJ covers city news (robot uprising!), human interest stories (the man that even sex robots rejected) and advertisements (almost virus free tech!). And between these intersperses his live streamed, electronically retrieved dreams for his audience’s entertainment. A mystery begins when the dreams reveal suppressed memories about the nature of his father’s disappearance and his own forgotten deeds. While the stories can have darkness, the tone remains light, preferring irony and good humor where possible. The sound effects are well chosen too: a few reverberations, echoes and distortions break up the continuous speech.
