We set the table for our time together in Season 2. The new United States has made a gasping entry onto the world stage only to find itself among giants. In the pre-dawn light of the 19th century the US looks across the Atlantic Ocean and sees challenges ranging from powerhouse nations at war to piracy threatening to cut off its lifeline of international trade. At home challenges arise as well as there are many different ideas about how the new country should be run. This episode samples the late 1780s and early 1790s.
