Listening to God
 Episode 40

Why is it that some people can sit under the preaching of the Word of God for years and it just doesn’t seem to make much of an impact upon their life?  

Satan uses a variety of methods to nullify the impact of scripture

1. 1. Blinding the person (2 Corinthians 4:4)
      1. Distractions so don't pay attention
      2. Preoccupied with other things
      3. Illness
      4. Busyness
      5. Relationships
   2. Detours our thinking
   3. Heard it all before attitude
   4. Don't admit/see our need
   5. False confidence - God's word won't happen
      1. Ezekiel 12 (NIV)
         21 The word of the Lord came to me:
         22 “Son of man, what is this proverb you have in the land of Israel: ‘The days go by and every vision comes to nothing’?
      2. 2 Timothy 4 (NLT)
         3 For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.
         4 They will reject the truth and chase after myths.

Conclusion: are we listening and is God’s Word making a transforming impact upon our life?
