About Emma Donoghue: Since her first ground-breaking and award-winning novels, Stir-Fry (1994) and Hood (1995) Emma has become a prolific novelist, short story writer, literary historian and playwright. Amongst other works, she has written 13 novels, 5 collections of short stories and 17 radio plays.

She is best known for her international bestseller Room which was shortlisted for the Man Booker and won Irish Novel of the Year 2010, New York Times Best Book of 2010 and The Commonwealth Prize for Fiction (2011). The film Room won numerous awards and her adapted screenplay was nominated for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and a Bafta award.
