This episode is a smorgasboard. We get the change to sit down with Lauren DeVera, a life coach, dancer, and fellow podcaster. We met her because Isabel will be speaking on a panel with her this summer at a podcast conference called Podcast Movement to speak about the Asian American podcasting experience, and she just so happened to live close by, in Alexandria, Virginia.
She also runs a dance studio called The Lion's Den, and a few weeks ago, she hosted her first in-person event since the beginning of the pandemic, which Isabel attended, and it was AWESOME. It was this incredible coming together of people who loved to dance, and was such a clear example of adults getting a chance to PLAY in a way that we often don't give ourselves permission to. Everything is so often about running around getting promotions, doing side-hustles, and then trying to calm yourself down in between those activities enough to have a sustainable mental state. Which we often fail at.
So in this episode, we talk a lot about play and why it is so important, life coaching, positive psychology, and the scarcity mindset that so many people find ourselves in that winds up preventing us from doing the things we truly want or need to do.
