At the start of the Covid-19 epidemic, I was texting Dr. Byron Young, our next guest on, In Conversation with Busayo and I mentioned that I was indulging some bad habits (eating too much mostly) at the beginning of the quarantine, and Dr. Young gave some advice that was so on point! Sorry, you have to listen to the podcast to know what he said. That moment I decided that he would be great person to give us some perspective on what we are going through.
I met Dr. Young in Miami during our pop-up at Prizm Art Fair during Art Basel. He bought some shirts from me and I make it a point to get to know my customers and was struck by a Ted Talk that Dr. Young had given on mental health issues in urban communities. As our time in quarantine lengthened, and the cost and impact of the disease on black communities became readily apparent.
I wanted to have an in-depth conversation about the impact of Covid-19 on our community and responses that black people as a community can have to what is happening to us. I wanted to speak to Dr. Young. He didn’t disappointed. The conversation was varied, in depth, far ranging. And very practical. He gives some very specific, actionable advice that you can apply to your life. Take a listen.
