Amanda Cutting is a global theatre and intimacy director. She is based in Calgary, Alberta, but spends more time on planes than anyone I have ever met before.

We met in a chance encounter when she came to visit a hotel in rural Hertfordshire where I used to run an open-air Shakespeare festival. She ended up directing a show there the following year, and our working relationship and friendship blossomed from there.

During our conversation we talk about Amanda’s methods of settling in a new place, how to create relationships beyond language barriers, and the growth of the Intimacy Directing movement across the globe following the Times Up movement.
