And one of the fastest growing sectors of BPO industry in the country is teaching English as a Second Language Teaching.

For 2 decades, many people from the Philippines have been working as teachers serving foreign clients to improve the said language skills. But little did we know about where it all started. In this episode, I sit down with Ms. Florence Rivera, a core founder of 51Talk and former HR Director of goFluent, two of the leading ESL teaching companies in the country. In our session, we talked about the start of her ESL Teaching journey up until she reached her highest position. We also discussed the origin story of the ESL Teaching in the Philippines, and how it flourished into what it is today. And finally, we shared some of the challenges the ESL teaching industry has faced throughout the years, and suggestions we can implement to solve the problems.
