CrossFit has become one the fastest growing fitness “sports” in history. Folks all over the nation are doing burpee’s, WOD’s (Workout of the Day), and AMRAP’s (As Many Reps As Possible) until they are flat on their backs. It’s intense, that’s for sure – but is it a good idea?

What is CrossFit?

So what is CrossFit? Basically it’s a training system designed to get folks in shape with varied (and often extreme) workouts. It focuses on “functional strength” (a subject for another day) and provides workouts that will increase performance in “real life” situations. The goal is to create a body that is not specialized in any one thing, but is capable of many different tasks.

I explore the pros and cons of CrossFit in this episode of The Full Disclosure Fitness Podcast. As with most things in life, the truth is not black or white – it falls more into the gray area.

More specifically, in this Episode you’ll find out:

  • What qualifies an activity as a “sport”?
  • How much exercise is “too much”?
  • How do you decide if CrossFit is for you?
  • Is CrossFit an Extreme Sport?
  • Can CrossFit be performed safely?
  • What are the signs of Overtraining?
  • What is Rhabdomyolysis?
  • Is working out until you Puke a good thing?
  • Can CrossFit kill you?
  • And much more…
