As the kid in the back seat dental viral video says, “Is this real life?”  I too ask, is this real life?  It certainly feels very surreal 24 hours after watching my Nascar hero call it career in Miami.  I kept thinking, “c’mon Jeff, one more year” and why not finish next year to make it 24 full seasons to match that iconic #24!  Well, alll good things must come to an end and the torch has been passed to a new generation of drivers.  Will any of them become as iconic as Jeff Gordon?  Only time and history will tell.  In a weekend where we saw a football legend coach his last home game for Virginia Tech and then Jeff racing his last race it’s been a bittersweet 48 hours to say the least.  I almost feel like I’ve lost a friend or a loved one but time moves on, we’ll find new interests and perhaps new drivers and new things that get our sports juices flowing!  We’ve been posting just about every in-car audio clip of Jeff’s career going back to 2002 out of sheer fanaticism much like yourself if you are reading this or visit the site with any regularity.  I have enjoyed conversing with many of you via email and social media and I thoroughly enjoyed your company through the tough times and the many more good times.  I also very sincerely thank you all for becoming regular visitors of my humble Jeff Gordon website.  The site will continue on but just in a different direction.  We’ll still focus on the greatest driver of our generation with the latest news, info and tidbits of Jeff’s new path in life.  While we’ll miss him in that 24 Chevy, I can’t wait to see what he adds in the broadcast booth and other endeavors.    Jeff Gordon retirement?  Not really, we’ll see him again real soon in Daytona!  Again, thanks for the ride for the last 13 years!
