Today I am going to share 10 things I no longer believe as it pertains to business and career success. I will dissect the wisdom of myself in my 20’s and contrast them to how I feel about things in my mid 30’s.

It’s funny as I go through this list of items, I realize how much my mind has changed in just a decade of being a professional. How much conventional wisdom I think is complete bullshit. How much being in business and being around people during good times and bad have molded how I view the world today.

How I’ve been able to re-train my brain over the years and make adjustments based on real-life experience. My ability to process information and take action.

Do you know what the difference is between young and old? It’s not a certain age. To me, it’s your ability to re-train your brain, and adjust your thinking to accommodate new ideas. It’s one of our greatest capabilities as humans. Yet it’s so hard for many people to admit when beliefs are a sunk cost.

I think that’s a shame. That’s what old people do. That’s the old school of thinking.

And “Old school” shouldn’t be worn as a badge of honor. It’s not a compliment!

So on this rainy winter day in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, I am going to share 10 things I no longer believe. This episode was a rare one where I recorded and released the episode while staying in the same location.

Guess I’m slipping in my old age.
