About David:


Leanness Lifestyle University (LLU) was founded in 1999 by Certified Wellness Coach, fitness expert, and author David Greenwalt.

With many books and programs addressing nutrition and exercise, LLU was the first online program to couple nutrition, exercise, and emotional fitness with accountability, motivation, and personal support.


Early on David realized that “calories-in calories-out, personal-responsibility” weight-management messages not only didn’t work but were grossly ineffective. It’s estimated that 20% of industrialized populations are trying to lose weight on any given day. There are thousands of diet plans and programs. Yet, in the U.S., the prevalence of obesity is up from 15 percent in 1970 to 43 percent today. Why? Is it because, over the past 50 years, people have forgotten to “eat less and exercise more?” A progressive willpower deficiency? Memory impairment - forgot about “moderation in all things?” Basic math became too complex? No clue how to count calories or portions?


Over this period, have our genes changed to any great extent? Then what? What explains the alarming rise in obesity worldwide and how do we help those suffering from decades of ineffective messaging and outright lies? This is and has been, the evolving mission of LLU. Through evidence- and experiential-based methods, David helps his student members get the truth, understanding, and strategies to achieve weight-management success once and for all.
