His most recent album, 3.15.20, was released in March of 2020.
First, the name. 3.15.20 comes from the soft release date of the album. However, this album does have a real name (sorta). He released the album on his website DonaldGloverPresents.com but it was taken down just 12 hours later. As a result, the album is affectionately known as Donald Glover Presents. However, the record wasn’t officially released until a week later, 3/22/2020.
This album got great reviews from critics, scoring an 83/10 composite metacritic score. All of the other reviews were very high as well, with many reviewers drawing parallels between the themes of the album and the way he uses harmony and unexpected sounds. The unexpected sounds and harmonies fit perfectly together, which is perfect for the lyrical content, pointing out that we shouldn’t fear the unknown, but embrace it because it can make some incredible things.
This record featured 9 different producers, Glover being the main one on nearly every song. The result was a really unified and well done album. 3.15.20 peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Top 200.
Next week we will talk in-depth about the songs that make up the album. Listen with us (https://open.spotify.com/album/3Vsbl0diFGw8HNSjG8ue9m?si=iXS1ThYwSPuRFcklGDygGA) and see if you agree with what we think!
