Chase your dreams!

Following your dreams sounds really exciting doesn’t it? Sometimes the reality isn’t so glamorous. The reality of writing a book, for example, is 9 months of blood, sweat, and tears. A bit like a pregnancy; by the end, you just want it out! And then when it’s out, it’s like a child; you love it, you’ve forgotten all about the pain, and you’re ready to have another one. The reality is that you might work from 7am to midnight sometimes. It can be hard, but most of the time, there are certainly more ups than downs when you chase your dreams.

Maya Angelou says, “I wouldn’t take nothing for my journey now.” Without those downs and hard days, I don’t think we truly appreciate the ups and the great days.

Who truly knows themselves? Who reflects on what’s working, what’s not working, and what needs to be done differently? That for me, has become sort-of a mantra. Something I think about at the end of a presentation, at the end of a pitch, and at the end of a networking opportunity. Sometimes after conversation with family! What’s working, what’s not working, and what do I need to do differently.
