How to prepare before your live stream

Checking Your Computer

1. Avoid last-minute software updates
2. Reboot your computer
3. Close open tabs and apps
4. Clear your computer memory. Parallels Toolbox
5. Plug-in to ethernet
6. Test your Internet (Speedtest.net). You need at least 5 Mbps

Checking Your Equipment

1. Check your camera. Is it at the right height and angle?
2. Check your audio levels. Look for audio clipping or a slow Internet connection
3. Secure any loose cables
4. Run a test stream. Facebook Live to only you. Instagram Stories, Facebook Stories, and so on.
5. Clean-up your background
6. Remove devices from your Internet
7. Disable any cloud-based software, such as Dropbox or Google Drive
8. Turn off interruptions such as alarms, phones, etc Put your computer into ‘do not disturb’ mode
9. Send notes to guests beforehand
10. Run an equipment check with guests, 15 minutes before each live video
11. Notify your house guests
12. Notes. Are they ready and accessible?
13. Warm up beforehand. Check your posture and do a 1 minute vocal warm up
14. Verify your destinations
15. Handle your business beforehand. This includes getting water, using the bathroom, etc
16. Have a backup plan
17. Start your stream on time
