With her mixed Thai/Iranian heritage, Mary has a most unique story and viewpoint in her filmmaking, leveraging her third culture life to make engaging films. In this conversation, we discuss her journey into filmmaking, how film and storytelling have been changing, as well as look at some of her ongoing projects, including her documentary Dhamma about female Buddhist monks and a feature length fiction, Persona.
