For this week's episode, we explore a very tough subject: Substance Abuse and Addictive Personalities. You may know somebody who was or is currently going through these issues... or this person could be you.

Through this episode, I want to educate you on how you or someone you know dealing with these issues can receive professional help and what resources are available.

Substance abuse and addictive personality issues affect not just the person with the issue, it affects all their relationships: family, friends, and work.

To help guide in this conversation, Roscoe comes on to speak about his long battle with substance abuse. He's courageous by sharing his story publicly about how he was able to overcome his addiction and stay sober.

In addition, I speak on how this is near to me as I have a close family member going through the struggle to get sober currently.

Substance abuse can simply be defined as a pattern of harmful use of any substance for mood-altering purposes. "Substances" can include alcohol and other drugs (illegal or not) as well as some substances that are not drugs at all.

An addictive personality is a personality that is more likely to become addicted to something. This can include someone becoming extremely passionate about something and developing an obsession or fixation.

The underlying factors for getting carried away and overindulging in video games, food, sex, or drugs and stem from hidden anxiety, depression, and poor impulse control.

If you or someone you know needs help, please listen to this episode to understand you are not alone and there are resources to help.
