While she has been writing poetry for many years she recently started performing her work as a spoken word artist in the Chicago area in 2019. Additionally, she was the host for Hot Sauce Poetry which is an inspirational open mic in Chicago, earning her a 2020 nomination for a National Spoken Word Award in the category of “Best Host”. “Lessons Taught by Daddy” is the first collection of poems that Ambers has published. However, she has been featured in other collections such as the She Will Speak Series: Gender Based Violence Anthology which included two of her poems “Rotting” and “Revival”.
