Wherein Todd talks gold course health, Tony talks alt-burgers, and Sr. Real Estate Correspondent Greg Goldman guests.

Without a doubt, when you have to choose between a local business and a national (or even international) one, you will without a doubt do better with the local guy. That said, Tony talked about a recent experience where the guys from Go Glass totally came through replacing the windows on his house. Sometimes it’s worth going with a company when you need to know that there are standards.

The guest this week, Sr. Real Estate Correspondent Greg Goldman agreed. While he’s a buy local guy himself, he’s also a Coldwell Banker affiliate and spoke with Todd and Tony at length about how the corporate standards are just one level of support that helps when people are looking for a credible agent (or window installer or whatever). Also,Greg announced the kickoff of this year’s Tools for Teachers:

Tony and Todd also talk about how there’s nothing wrong with some of the craft beer classics.

You Need to Revisit Some of the Craft Beer Classics – State of the Beer

I toyed briefly with doing a beer and movie pairing column wherein I chose a movie and decided what beer it was most like. The first one I tried was Deadpool 2 and, by the end of it I realized any reviews I did would be boring.

Judging Alt-Burgers

Tony will be one of the judges at this year’s Delaware Burger Battle (think Emeril but louder and with less credibility). The bad news is: Tony doesn’t, strictly speaking, eat hamburgers. The good news is: they have an category for alt-burgers. They might not call it the “alt-burgers” category, but that’s what he’s calling it. It benefits the Delaware Food Bank among other charities and it’s an all you can eat affair, so consider showing up. Tickets and info below, and here’s hoping they sell t-shirts.

Delaware Burger Battle 2018

It’s Year 7 of the Delaware Burger Battle, brought to you by Delaware Food Battles. On the best day of the year, Delaware’s competitive chefs compete for trophies and glory, while you fill your belly, place your vote and raise money for charity.

I Love Bethany Beach Love

Through Greg, we get to meet Karen Kampman, the mind behind I Love Bethany Beach, a website that keeps people up to date on the goings on in the resort as well as publishes profiles of local businesses and attractions. Greg said he was a fan of their Facebook page at first and went on to snap up some prime real estate (sorry about the pun) on the website.

I Love Bethany Beach!

Do you love Bethany Beach, Delaware as much as we do? Find out…and take a chance at our monthly contest while you’re at it!

One Cool Thing

Greg’s company will once again organize the Tools for Teachers campaign to help teachers pay for school supplies in the district. They’ll put out a list of what teachers are looking for and will be launching the drive soon. You can reach out to Greg Goldman for more details. Meanwhile, here’s the story about last year’s drive. We ran out of time so we didn’t get to hear Todd’s One Cook Thing but we’ll let him go twice in the coming show.

Coldwell Banker Bethany collecting Tools for Teachers

Duff Rubin, president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, Mid-Atlantic, is pleased to announce that the brokerage’s Bethany Beach office will be collecting Tools for Teachers classroom supplies for local students and teachers. Staff and agents will collect items such as sticky notes, glue sticks, dry-erase markers, colored pencils, fine-point markers, chart paper and copier paper, as well as cash donations, at the brokerage’s office at 39682 Sunrise Ct.
