I love Manke's storytelling and LORE is an amazing podcast that taps into that perfectly!
Such an awesome story-driven podcast from a true talent!
Aaron took an initial, magnificent idea and was able to run with it very, very well! However, I think the earlier episodes of this podcast - perhaps the first 300 - are better than the latter ones. I think this is perhaps because, in the end, there is only so much real material and not only has Aaron plumbed that well for this podcast, but he's tried to branch out into other similar areas as well. Lore is ABSOLUTELY worth a look, and probably the first podcast that I went through all the back catalog of. Start at the beginning. You won't be disappointed.
Love Lore!
I enjoy all the stories but Manke himself is hard to listen to. He has a weird cadence to his voice that can get annoying.
Just stopping by to say, Hi! I am absolutely in love with Aaron Mahnke's voice. I could listen to him read a phone book. I aspire one day to be as good a podcaster as he. Honestly, I only found Lore last year and binged the entire thing in about 2 weeks of work. Love the information, love the connections that the researchers and Mahnke find, and absolutely love the show!
Got me into podcasts. Still one of my favorites
Super calming voice but perfect to listen to on long drives, while doing dishes, or a GREAT place to start when doing research for my own podcast series!! It was introduced to me by a friend and I've been hooked ever since!
My absolute favorite podcast.
This show is why I sometimes weird people out with just how much I know about serial killers. The dark tales that Aaron Mahnke shares in his oh-so-soothing podcaster voice are both enthralling and sometimes disturbing. I have bonded with several people over a mutual love of this show, including my boyfriend. Be careful what happens when you look in the dark corners of history because the truth is more frightening than fiction.
This podcast is well researched and sucks you in. I am pretty easy to scare, so I have to space them out over time! I really enjoy all the legends from different cultures. The Amazon Prime show is worth a watch. It dramatizes and animates the stories for maximum creepiness.
The score by Chad Lawson convinced with Aaron's narration of stories ranging from fascinating to spooky is what keeps me listening to this. I'm not hugely into the paranormal stories, but I appreciate how Aaron approaches them, and I love the topic-based episode format.
Always something bizarre to learn from this show. Sometimes off, sometimes creepy, but always top notch.
Lore was one of the first podcasts I listened to and it still holds up!
No references and highly dubious stories presented as fact
Horrible voice, no sources for any of the dubious """research""" (you have to pay on Patreon to see the SOURCES, LOL!)
Lore is a award winning podcast based on the scariest real life stories about the dark side of history. Hosted, created and produced by Aaron Mahnke Lore tells stories of creatures, places and people that should only live in our scariest and most twisted nightmares. The thing I love about Lore is that Aaron does an incredible job telling the story along with a well mixed audio backdrop I can spend hours listening to these stories from days gone by to even some more modern Lore stories. - Podcast Junkie
