Dr. Terry Wahls was diagnosed with relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis in 2000. By 2003 it had transitioned to secondary progressive multiple sclerosis and confined her to a tilt-recline wheelchair for four years. Investigation into nutritional brain health slowed her decline, but it wasn’t until she discovered functional medicine and radically changed her diet to incorporate the nutrition she needed that she began to improve.

Today Dr. Terry Wahls is a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Iowa and a staff physician at the Iowa City Veterans Affairs Hospital, where she bikes to work every day.
