RATING
Wow. Crazy and absurd and downright interesting. Great concept, great execution. Madison is endearing. The production quality and the voice actors get that old-timey feeling quite well. Unique and original with a real love for the original source material. Madison is the perfect foil for introducing the younglings to the history of these radio serials. Well done.
Radio dramas are so iconic and something sorely missed in today's culture. Take a trip with this podcast and it's uniquely creative storytelling!
Madison on the Air is fantastic! From the brilliant voice acting, to the stories. The concept itself is so brilliant that I wish I'd come up with it! Good stuff here, trust me!
An exceptionally well-produced comedic podcast. From the moment the theme starts playing, you know exactly what you're getting into, and I love that about this show. I listened to the Dragnet and Philip Marlowe episodes of the show prior to writing this review, as I was familiar with the source material. I would say it helps to know the source material, but it's not required as it's still a fun listen and the tone of each old time radio drama is maintained (when Madison isn't speaking haha). I LOVE that the history of the radio drama is given at the end of each episode. That makes this show a gateway into old time radio two times over.
If there was an award for “Best Character in a Podcast” then Madison Standish (the protagonist of MOTA) would get my vote. She’s a joy! Sassy, quirky, funny, sharp-witted in her remarks and putdowns, she’s certainly more barb than Barbie! And played up against stiff & straight laced 1950’s characters in this OTR world just makes Maddie more vibrant and lovable. Madison On The Air is fantastically written and performed with the perfect mix of comedy and acknowledgment to those old radio days. It is simply sublime.
Madison On The Are is a highly creative radio drama that both pokes fun and pays homage to old radio serials from yesteryears. Perhaps the most impressive aspect though is the high quality production. The cast is crisp and well directed, the music transitions are on point, and the sound effects give life to every setting. Madison herself is a great comedic foil to the entire premise while taking nothing away from the plot of each episode. There's also a wide variety of genres, from westerns to Golden Age superheroes, that gets you coming back for more. Give this a listen and subscribe now!
This show is so much fun
Wat a wonderful concept - place a woman of today back in the Old Time Radio programs. I listened to every one of those old shows and eagerly looked forward to this creation. UNTIL Madison spoke and her "nails on the blackboard" voice completely ruined everything. Her comments were supposed to be funny but come of flat and dull and downright snarky. Maybe her comments appeal to the tech-savvy cell phone kids or the Starbucks loving future Liberals of America but she simply was NOT funny and although I listened to every episode I could not find ONE of them that I would call funny. This show turned out to be big disappointment for me.
Love this podcast, it’s fun to listen to and super creative
I simultaneously relate to Madison on my sassiest days and also admire the patience with which her cohosts handle her antics. Easy to listen to, this podcast really makes the time fly by (but not in reverse, that's for nerds.)
This podcast cracks me up. Madison is a makeup tutorial content creator who gets sucked into old-time radio shows. Do we know how? NO! Is she interested in getting out? NOT REALLY! The episodes stand alone so you can listen to whatever title catches your attention and what's more, lots of episodes have a bonus mini attached to give you history on the show or something that was featured! So it's silly PLUS optional history. It's such a good time.
Really fun concept and brilliantly executed makes for a delightful listening experience.Funny, original and some great production value makes for an amazing show.
