Podcast – Interview with Sakurako (Yoko), a Kimono Artist from Westchester County.

🇯🇵Today, I would like to introduce you to Sakurako Biem, a Japanese citizen who moved to the US with her family 20 years ago to follow her husband, as he got a new job in New York City.

🏯Yoko was born in Tokyo and raised in Osaka, the second biggest city in Japan. After her graduation, she worked for an import-export Japanese company and then obtained a job in France, where she studied the French language and familiarized herself with the French culture. Back in Japan, she met Alain, a young professional from Cameroon (Africa), and later-on, married him. Together, they ultimately settled-down in Westchester county (New York), and had two beautiful daughters, now 17 and 15.

🎎Yoko is a passionate professional Kimono Artist and Teacher. While in Japan, she studied the art of the kimono with all its meanings, symbols and styles. In this interview, Yoko first defines the word "Kimono", and explains to us the role of her national costume in the Japanese Society. Who wears a kimono, why and when? What symbols are hidden being this beautiful robe, made-out of silk?

🌏While talking to us about her cultural heritage and customs, we could feel Yoko's pride, talent and immense knowledge. Together, we were able to travel across the globe and landed in Japan, for a little over 13 minutes.

🥰This interview was so much fun and informative!

🗾To close our discussion, Yoko agreed to say a few words in Japanese; What a treat!

Thank you so much, Yoko for this fascinating moment!
