Periscope, Balb.im and Meerkat are three tools that allow you to stream live to your audience.
Meetkat was first on the scene but shortly thereafter fell behind Periscope. Blab.im came on the scene with multiple people (up to four) at the same time.
These are great tools to get you in front of your audience. The problem is many musicians setup one microphone and use that to pick up their voice and instrument. Well there is a much better way to do it. If you have a mixer (and most musicians do) you can plug a microphone into your mixer along with your piano/guitar, etc. If you don’t have a mixer you can pick up a small mixer that has two inputs for $82.
The you an use the iRig ($12) to connect to your iPhone or iPad.
You just take a standard 1/4″ cable from the out of your mixer into the iRig.
IK Multimedia AmpliTube iRig guitar interface adaptor for iOS devices ($12)
iRig 2 ($32 – Selectable dual-mode switch: FX and THRU )
iRig Pre ($35 standard XLR input)
iRig Keys ($69 – Keyboard that goes into iOs device)
There are Other Options In Addition to iRig
Alesis 2 Channel $82
If you have a mixer, and you’re using Blab.im from your computer (not your phone or iPad). the Behringer UCA202 ($27) is a a great USB device to get audio into your computer
So in the end you can spend $12, or $82 to get great sounding audio into your live streaming sessions.
