Amy Richardson is the founder and CEO of the wildly popular children’s clothing brand June & January. What started as a small Etsy shop out of her Brooklyn, NYC apartment (where she was also a new mom) has turned into a widely successful and inclusive company that has been featured in US Weekly, POPSUGAR, Brit + Co, Oh Joy!, Cool Mom Picks and more! Amy is as rad as they come. She’s the creative boss-lady/mom/friend/savvy business woman many aspire to be... she’s also brave and resilient as hell. At 1:07am on July 22nd, 2019 her world was completely shaken as she and her two young children were coming home from the airport. Amy was shot in the leg through her car door by an unknown shooter. She shares the story about how she tied her own tourniquet, called for help, the physical recovery process, the emotional healing process, the silver-lining and why we MUST talk to our kids about being prepared for a situation in which mommy or daddy might not be able to help themselves. You never know what “never-gonna-happen-to-me” scenario this world might throw at you, but having some of the hard conversations with our kids and teaching them basic emergency protocols with technology tools might be the difference in life or death. We could not be more grateful to Amy for going “on the loose” with us and being so informative, open, and honest.
