So it's a romantic comedy musical about not letting your fears prevent you from living your dreams. While it mostly works for what it sets out to do, there's details that are meant to come off as zany ha ha that strike a bum note for me. For example, Herbert doesn't eat honey because he thinks bears make honey and he's afraid of bears. The character is in his 30s, not eight years old. How does he function? It becomes a plot point later but in general, this musical infantilizes its main trio to degrees that bump up against my willing suspension of disbelief. On the flip side, the music and singing are stellar, and divorced from the plot, I would happily listen to the song album.
