If you're reading this it's already too late. What was your favorite podcast before you started reading this? You can't remember, can you? Things like this tend to happen in Firmament, but don't worry, The Daylight Society is here to help welcome you to Monster Hour, your new favorite podcast. Quinn is an outstanding Keeper. His world is rich with beauty and terror. His mellifluous voice makes mayhem sound soothing, and the web he weaves is entrancing. The characters in his world are unique, and each of them is fully realized. Chief among them is Stoney Lock, the formidable former Ranger Specialist and current enigmatic face of the law in Firmament who definitely knows more than he lets on. Because of characters like Stoney, and the way that Quinn portrays them, the world feels alive. But Quinn would just be a crazy man talking to himself without his outstanding players and the characters they've created and embody at his (at least currently) digital table.Alvin, the kind-hearted bicycle enthusiast and brave lycanthrope next door is undoubtedly the heart of the group. Yes, his brain may be a bit smoother than most, but that simply adds to how endearing and sweet this very good boy is. Whose a good boy? Alvin's a good boy! Yes he is. As the group's front liner, Alvin proudly puts himself in harm's way in order to protect the ones he loves. Kyle, the man behind the fur, brings a jovial ferocity to Alvin that I can't imagine anyone else could muster.Constance has lived in Firmament her entire life, but that isn't necessarily the only life she's lived. She spends her days painting, not living up to her mother's expectations, and receiving psychic visions and knowledge from her late-grandmother. These visions aid Constance and her friends with investigating and eradicating the evils that call Firmament home. She's brilliant, a little bonkers, and has seemingly read every single book in existence. Her player, Teo, is just as enthusiastic and delightful as Constance. Oh, and good luck trying to figure out if she rolled well or not, because regardless of if its a 1 or a 14 Teo hilariously reacts the same way every time.A smart, smarmy, sharply-dressed smartass, JR is a sneak thief with a love of art and the key to your heart... and everything else. Her relationship with the law varies wildly depending on who is wearing the badge, and she couldn't shoot the ocean even if she was fully submerged, but if you need to traverse the multiverse or talk your way out of trouble that she probably caused in the first place, she's the one you're looking for. Her player Hannah is equally as quick-witted and sarcastic as JR herself, and has a laugh so infectious that you'll need a vaccine to stop giggling. These people have come together and created something very special. Yes, all of the above things make this podcast special in their own right, but what really makes this show thrum with life is the friendships at the core of it. You can tell that these people love and appreciate one another, and that love and appreciation is something that this podcast exudes.I know you have questions, but herein lie answers. So come join me in The Daylight Society. We have snacks. BYOBB*.*Bring Your Own Bath Bombs
Monster Hour is truly incredible! Alvin, Constance, and JR are dimensional and relatable characters. The production quality is fantastic. The stories are both fun and capitvating. Monster Hour is a great example of balancing actual play with audio drama. After fully catching up, I've already gone back to re-listen. If you like MotW, you'll love Monster Hour. If you like great characters, you'll love Monster Hour. If you love dynamic storytelling, you'll love Monster Hour.
Gosh, I've been enjoying this story and I'm sad I'm finally catching up. Quinn is a great keeper and the interactions between the cast are fantastic. Each player is a joy to listen to and brings life to Firmament Colorado. Alvin is adorable, JR is hilarious, and Constance is very relatable. The show is very inclusive and its very obvious everyone is very comfortable with each other. I've recommended this podcast to all my friends.
This is definitely one of the best Monster of the Week shows out there, and honestly, one of my favorite RPG podcasts in general. The cast is really engaging, and the GM is the perfect amount of sadistic and supportive. Check this one out. You won't regret it.
Fantastic players with fabulous characters and an absolutely killer Keeper! Every episode gets better than the last, with so many engaging and difficult player choices AND sudden plot twists, I can honestly say I've deeply enjoyed this pod every step of the way.
Started listening to it a few days ago and am obsessed with the story already. If you're looking for a different type of Actual Play podcast with Monster of The Week vibes, definitely try this one.
Amazing Monster of the Week podcast. Quinn is a great keep who built an incredible world and story. Hannah, Tio and Kyle make Quinn's story come to life.
The best Monster of the Week podcast around. Spooky, hilarious, and heart-felt all across an intricate and amazing story.
I was hooked from the first episode. The storytelling is excellent, the stakes feel real, and the characters are lived-in and living. It's fun and funny, with mysteries and magic aplenty. If you want to be a fly on the wall of a funny group having a great time with Monster of the Week, then add Monster Hour to your list.
Monster Hour is an amazing actual play podcast with a rich world, engaging characters, and a very skillful Keeper (Game Master). The balance of banter and real heartfelt moments between the players is excellent. Quinn keeps the plot flowing with believable NPCs, difficult choices for the characters, and imaginative, evocative storytelling. On top of that, the theme song absolutely rocks!
I started listening a few weeks ago to make my work day more interesting, and god I'm glad I did! From the charming Chief Stoney, to the incessant pursuits of Leon, to Constance's overbearing mother, Quinn crafts an amazing, engaging narrative for his three players! The hunters are all complex and fun, and I need to know more about them now. I want to give Constance a hug, Alvin a cool fist bump, and go for a drink with JR at the Prospector.10/10 would recommend! Just wouldn't recommend moving to Firmament with all the spooky happenings there...
Best MotW podcast I've listened to. Absolutely fantastic story telling
Love its style, it's spooky good and doesn't take itself too seriously. Quinn keeps it together and flowing without removing the human element of enjoyment. 5/5 as I'm on episond 41 and looking forward to the next 59 if they dare!
Everyone Sync Watches to Monster HourFirst off, I got to say Wow. There is some amazing setup and development that was done for both the characters and the town of Firmament where this story takes place. From the cold openings leading into each new case to the fine details the players and keeper have added to this area and history, you would be hard pressed to find an area where it feels like quick shakey improv. The story itself picks up fast and the player characters are all very interesting right off the hop and monstrous intrigue lurks in the midst as they get more of the information from the people of this town. From a con artist, to a newly changed lycan, and an expert on monsters, this group is sure to constantly get in over their head. Also the Keeper does an amazing job at painting up the word picture with fine details that completely immerses you into the scene. If you're looking for a new Monster of the Week podcast or just looking at checking it out, I highly suggest you give this one a listen!
This podcast is excellent. Quinn is an awesome Keeper who is very quick on his feet and the chemistry between the cast really makes this podcast a pleasure to listen to each episode. They found the perfect balance between making the listener able to follow what is going on with the rules and being fun to listen to. It helps that the story is very intriguing and well thought out. I have decided to start my own campaign because they made the game seem so much fun.
Absolutely love this show! I've been listening since episode 3 came out and it's it's a pleasure and an honor to see the show grow like it has. The characters are engaging and the story is compelling and I'm loving the finale arc. Oh, and the music is all absolute bangers. The narration over the soundtrack gives me goosies. I couldn't be more glad that I stumbled upon this while looking for REI's "Camp Monsters" pocast.
One of my favorite TTRPG podcasts, the hosts are great, and the world created by Quinn, the GM, is my absolute jam. There are so many characters, so many twists, and so many episodes to go through that theres enough great content to last you a good amount of time.
I have been really enjoying this podcast, it has great characters. The story arcs are interesting and fun, the players and keeper all just have an infectous energy. Really want me to get started on my Monster of the Week game.
Monster Hour is a truly excellent actual-play podcast with a skilled GM, engaged and entertaining players, wonderful characters, and excellent audio production quality. The first two seasons employ the Monster of the Week game system which lends itself to this medium with its simple and intuitive rules and openness to cinematic flair. The characters are complex, lovable, hilarious, and extremely three-dimensional as the story develops. Music and editing maintain excellent flow within the episodes. Highly bingeable. Can't wait for a new season!
This is such a fun podcast. The characters are relatable and engaging, the players have great chemistry, and the show is well put together. The sound quality is great, as is the story telling. If you enjoy actual play podcasts, this will be for you!
