Why do some many people care about celebrities? Our guest says the obsession took hold in the 19th century, and she has the scrapbooks to prove it. Sharon Marcus and Radhika Jones join Meghna Chakrabarti.
“Bodies of Women” is a recurring theme among celebrities‘ gossip, although the perception of a beautiful/seductress body has changed from 200 years ago. Another recurring theme is celebrities who like to attract attention to themselves through the way they dress, woke /social justice preaching/ speeches and weird antics ( being photographed in a coffin /wearing a vial of blood around the neck). Third theme; celebrities need to be relevant whether it was related to rumors/hookup/sightings as its will raise their profile. “Celebrity culture exists because of us”; This quote is so true.
