We welcome back John Connors as he joins us on the line for episode #119 of Paddy Holohan’s No Shame Podcast. This is John’s 3rd appearance on the show, with his first two episodes going down as instant No Shame classics, the latest instalment does not disappoint.

John is an award winning actor, director, writer, documentary filmmaker & co-owner of Cluster Fox Films, a production company he founded with fellow filmmaker Tiernan Williams. Connors rose to prominence in 2011 with his critically acclaimed performance as Patrick Ward in ‘Love Hate’.

In 2018 he received the best actor award at the IFTA’s for his performance as Jay Connolly in ‘Cardboard Gangsters’ a film, which he wrote, directed & starred in. John’s acceptance speech has become legendary amassing more views online than every other IFTA speech combined. A speech which prompted Conor McGregor to lend his support.

On this weeks podcast John talks about his latest film, ‘Endless Sunshine on a Cloudy Day - The Jade McCann Story’, a beautiful documentary detailing Jade & her father Anthony’s incredibly brave fight against cancer. Despite the the heartbreaking subject matter of the movie, Endless Sunshine is funny, inspiring & thought provoking in equal measures. The story is told from Jade’s perspective, through many of her social media posts as an influencer. The movie captures the raw, terrifying, tender & intimate moments of family life during a serious illness.

The film won the coveted Audience Award at this year’s Dublin film festival & was praised for addressing the darker side of social media. The documentary is available to watch on demand for a limited time on Clisterfoxfilms.com. Along with being available to rent on Vimeo

Also on this week’s podcast John gives us an update on how he’s been dealing with life during the pandemic. Connors tells us how lockdown has made him appreciate what’s really important in life, family. John believes he may have contracted coronavirus near the start of the breakout when he showed flu like symptoms for a period of time.

The Cardboard Gangsters star was not a high risk patient & was therefore refused a test like many others. John decided to self isolate for 14 days. He describes the symptoms he experienced including difficulty breathing.  Luckily Connors went on to make a full recovery.

John & Paddy also discuss current events in the political world, the role of the media during lockdown & what it has resulted in.

It’s Always a pleasure to have John on the podcast, a great friend of the show.

The full episode #119 of Paddy Holohan’s No Shame Podcast is available to watch now across all the usual platforms including iTunes, Spotify & Youtube. As always with John & Paddy it’s an absolute cracker from start to finish.
