RATING
Party of One is one of the best Actual Plays out there and a titan in the duet RPG space. Jeff is an incredibly imaginative storyteller who collaborates with his guests to tell engaging, interesting tales. The games he chooses to highlight are excellent and fun, and his dedication to the show's premise of joyful duet play always pays off. The playful and sincere interactions between Jeff and his guest every episode makes this a series not to miss.
This podcast plays so many different games in so many different styles. Jeff blows it out of the water every single time. Wonderful guests, a stunningly good host, and a little something for everyone. A great way to check out new game systems and see if they're for you, and a great way to find just damn good stories.
Few actual play shows are as unique as Party of One. The one on one nature of the show really serves to bring out an intimate play experience that sets it apart from other AP podcasts.
Amazing! Great introduction to a ton of different RPGs
Jeff is delightful and I love the focus on 2 player games!
Honestly one of my favorite podcasts out there. Jeff does an incredible job with this show, and introduces games I've never heard of that I'm DYING to play as soon as the episodes are done. The guests are fantastic, the content supreme. I can't recommend you listen to this show enough!
Heart warming and / or hillarious games between a talented, creative host and a slew of amazing guests
Party of One is maybe the most consistently incredible podcasts I listen to, across such a wide variety of genres, tones, and games. There is truly an episode for every mood, and Jeff is an absolute virtuoso. I love to be able to dip into a single, stand-alone story for a bit and get a sense of closure, and then move on to something completely different and just as enjoyable.
Party of One is a series of respectful, joyous, thoughtful playthroughs of a huge number of two-player games. I remember a different cool game I've gotten into through this every time I think about it - but honestly it's the guarantee of a great new story I usually listen for. I just finished a recent episode, 224, a game of Breakup on Reentry with its writer (!) Taylor LaBresh. It's a tragic game about lovers unaware they're rival mech pilots, and this playthrough was emotional, and full of beautifully crafted dramatic parallels, and made me want to play the game immediately. The tone the host Jeff Stormer creates of supportive, enthusiastic creativity is infectious - just, hell yeah, give this a listen.
Highly entertaining podcast, Jeff is a wonderful host, GM, and player. He has a wide variety of guests and systems so there is a little something for everyone.
A lot of games change when you play them with two people. D&D turns from a hangout with swords and monsters to a more intimate back and forth conversation. Very few podcasts do that Party of One does, which is play through so many games with just two people. Not only do you get a very good example of how these games play in general (which: thank god) but you also get to see how they feel if you were to sit down and play with just your friend. Or a loved one. The host does such a good job keeping things flowing but isn't afraid to slow down and explore the ups and downs of each system. It's incredibly engaging, and I hope you'll think so too!
Getting to listen to Jeff interact and play with his guests is a true joy. Party of One has introduced me to so many awesome games and awesome creators. Truly one of the best gaming podcasts in the industry.
I backed the very good mecha RPG Beam Saber on Kickstarter after hearing it played on Party of One, and I've since had an absolute blast playing it! Pick up basically any episode and find a new way to have fun with your chosen few!
