When you think of TikTok, you may envision mostly twerking teenagers, but perhaps you've caught wind that TikTok is for grownups too, and can even be used for marketing. My friend Shelby actually sold more than 40,000 copies of her poetry book thanks to a couple of videos that went viral on TikTok.

Shelby Leigh is a 25-year-old  poet, mental health advocate, and book marketing strategist who has been writing on the internet for 7+ years, amassing a following of more than 500,000 readers. She is the author of the bestselling book, Changing with the Tides, and openly shares her mental health journey with self-doubt and anxiety. Shelby also empowers writers to show up on social media and promote their book and has helped over 1200 authors to date through courses, guides and 1:1 services.

I originally discovered her through a Facebook ad, purchased her TikTok guide for $27, and eventually hired her for some personal consulting on how to use social media to sell my own book. I still have a long way to go on that, but I have learned so much from Shelby, and I thought you'd enjoy meeting her too.
