First, the audio design is top-notch. Soundtrack is great, SFX are well-used, levels are balanced. Dice get rolled in handfuls and the clatter is just right, scratching the itch for those who like to hear dice hitting the table. Some player echo which will get sorted out, but it's not terribly distracting.Second, this is 2nd Edition Shadowrun, going in the Wayback Machine to the early 90s to tell a story in the 2050s with all the retro-future feeling that implies to a 2020s audience. Wired gear, cyberdecks the size of keytars; the group embraces and leans into the whole aesthetic. Trying to hide from the source material would kill the fun.Third, the characters and interplay are damn good. Shadowrun podcasts aren't a field that's been heavily played, and the ones that do exist include some of the highest quality podcasts in the Actual Play world. You can hear the potential as they play in just the first ep.You aren't necessarily going to learn to play SR 2e by listening here, but it's an edition that remains a classic approach, itself worth your time to pick up and read, even if only for the glimpse in a venerable classic of the TTRPG world.Your listening time is rewarded by listening to this podcast. Enjoy.
