I've had this one on my list for a long time now & I'm glad I finally got the chance to listen! I love the character & player introductions - great questions for the players about themselves & their characters, with a bonus introductory scene for each PC. I'm only a couple full episodes in, but I already love the characters and can't wait to see how the party dynamic develops. Great sound work - the sound effects really brought Torch to life. There is a bit of imbalance between voices (not all mics involved are equal), but not enough to dampen my enthusiasm to keep listening.I'm playing Iron Gods, so I'll need to be careful not to listen past where I've played (spoilers!), but I've loved what I've heard so far.
This podcast comes barreling out of the gate. Sound and production value is good right off the bat, the character intros are interesting without being overly long drawn out back stories, and the mystery and town they drove into are immediately attention-catching. Still chasing that tube yogurt sponsorship though!
Great characters in an interesting Pathfinder AP. DM could use a better mic, but that is so far my only complaint
Welcome to this review for Pod Against the Machine, the only review original enough to rip a running gag from the show and include it in the first sentence. In all seriousness, the PAtM crew do a marvelous job bringing the craziness of the Conan the Barbarian-esque setting of Numeria to robotic life. The crew has great chemistry and start off with solid sound quality right out the gate. Their ability to layer in short flashbacks and vignettes within and outside the narrative goes a long way towards building up the world the campaign inhabits. They are pretty new and already have a solid momentum going, and you'll want to jump on the train before it gets too far from the station and the metaphor starts to fall apart. Give it a listen, it's good. Robots and lasers and stuff in fantasy, gotta love it.
Pathfinder's Iron Gods adventure path has long deserved a strong adaptation to podcast form. Pod Against the Machine brings all the mysterious technology and intrigue to life with engaging characters, dramatic world building, and strong banter. A must listen for any fan of pulp sci-fi and tabletop gaming.
It's good and stuff. I was promised stickers? Izzy said there were stickers here. Oh! I'm supposed to say something positive. It's very funny and enjoyable. Would rate it 20 stars, but that seems to not be a thing. . .
I love these guys & gals! Honest and funny its been easy listening to them every week :). Nothing better for a long drive then Jazzy Jeff and the Ashen crew!
I should preface this by saying I'm not a fan of actual plays. Its a genre that's by and large never been my thing. I'm much more of a RPG theorycraft or news podcast fan. Given that, this was pretty entertaining from the episode I listened to (#010). I do like that the OOC aspects were not cut out and the fact that in character stuff fused with rolls in a lot of cases were perfectly acceptable. It's a tabletop game first and foremost and important that the players are actually having fun rather than just trying to entertain listeners. This strikes a good balance and definitely would consider it a recommend if you're down for these, especially for PF1.
One of my favorite actual plays--the sound design is great after the first few episodes, the characters and players are likeable and interesting, and the GM's deadpan humor ties everything together.
