Michael Skaggs was an avid runner when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He had just finished the 2018 Detroit Marathon when his symptoms popped up which complicated the process of his diagnosis. As one might imagine, pancreatic cancer was not at the top of mind for doctors who were looking at a marathoner.
However, Michael knew something was wrong and advocated for himself throughout the process. Although his pancreatic cancer diagnosis shocked doctors and changed his and his wife Missy’s lives forever, his advocacy may very well have saved his life.
After an up-and-down journey with treatment, Michael and Missy are now running half marathons together - with Michael having his sights set on a full marathon in the future. Listen to this week’s episode to hear Michael and Missy share their journey.
