In the 3rd episode of season 2, hosts Galen and Ess interview Beth Carlson-Malena, a Queer co-pastor of a Vancouver church, about Christian community. They discuss how religious upbringings informed their sense of community and unpack the positive and negative impacts of religion on a global scale. They speak honestly about the religious trauma that Queer and marginalized folx suffer and share personal stories of their healing journey in reconciling spirituality with their Queerness. Ess and Galen don't hold back, and ask Beth some confronting questions about how she navigates representing a religion associated with colonization, genocide, and pain.
We specifically encourage ex-christians and current Christians to listen to this episode in a rare opportunity to hear three very different Queers comment on how they believe the church has wronged folx and their belief on ways the church and communities can move forward.
