This week we speak with Miles Hull, who can be fairly regarded as an industry veteran in the hospitality space.
Formally trained in hotel management in Switzerland, Miles held a range of positions in hotels and a Canadian brewpub in the last 1990s before returning to Australia, where he we worked as Food & Beverage Manager for the Sydney Olympic Games Organising Committee.
His next role was as Head of Creative Development & Marketing : Founding General Manager - Hospitality for a little brewing start-up called Little Creatures, which I still regard as one of the most influential hospitality venues in the beer industry, and a venue that most brewpubs open today can trace their DNA back to.
He is currently General Manager of his own hospitality group in Perth, with three venues and a fourth - a brewpub - to open later this year.
As the brewing industry matures and changes, the quality and thoughtfulness of the hospitality that breweries offer is increasingly as important as the beer. That makes this very thoughtful and thought provoking chat with Miles a must listen for anyone running or thinking of opening a brewpub.
