She is a nationally certified counselor and a licensed mental health counselor, and has a private counseling practice where she specializes in ADHD counseling and coaching. She won the American Psychological Association Outstanding Dissertation Award in 2001 for her research on ADHD and executive functions. Sarkis received her PhD from the University of Florida in 2002. She has been published in the Journal of Attention Disorders, The ADHD Report, and numerous other publications. She lectures internationally on ADHD, and has been featured on many media networks.
