ROGUEMAKER strongly reminds me of 70s/80s hard scifi, with its mix of weird, incredibly unreliable-narrator type characters, and science-based world-building. The characters themselves are an interesting collection, with each voice defining itself in both sound and dialog. I sometimes struggle to identify different voices, but with these characters I was able to put story to name very early. I might not have known their NAMES, but I could tell you that that one was the nervous music one, that one was the (extra) angry one, and THAT one was the flight attendant with self-esteem issues. The larger story itself isn't hugely within my personal set of interests, though it's well-executed (mysterious, galaxy-altering species that has vanished/gone extinct aren't really my jam) but the characters themselves have got me coming back, because I want to know what's going to happen to them! The highlight of the show for me is Ship, the ship's AI, voiced by the show's writer/creator. The switches in and out of hospitality mode are amazing, and the thought put into why and HOW the AI would interact with the passengers/crew is fascinating and well done. Overall, a well-told story with the heart and science of classic scifi. Recommended if you like Niven & Pournelle, Babylon 5, and maybe a bit of Hitchhiker's Guide.
