RATING
Straight from the get go the story is interesting and all the characters are great. Just started a week ago and am almost up to date with this one. Good stuff.
Rolling in love more like it! I really enjoy this show and the cast seems really lovely!
One of the most original narratives in actual play podcasting, I absolutely love the concept of the Rifts. Terrifying and brilliant!
"A slow start, but a FANTASTIC hook." The first episode is a little slow to start, but I was very quickly hooked. Every D&D game starts in a Tavern of some sort, but this show leaps through that cliche with flying, and quite literal rainbow colors. Each character is equal parts mysterious and charming. Especially the "southern belle" character voice that is TO DIE FOR.The cast is lively, and you can tell that the crew really enjoys the game they're playing. It comes across as a genuine role playing experience, and not a manicured, curated show like some of the other TTRPG Podcasts out there.Their music and ambience is great, and the Storyteller does a wonderful job of keeping a scene alive. If you enjoy wild magic, hoards of undead, and a struggle over gateways to the outer planes: This show is for you. I even skipped ahead a few episodes, and their quality, sound mixing, and energy only improves.A wonderful addition to the D&D Podcast community.
Overall a solid actual play podcast with smart storytelling and tricks that make it feel different than the average AP show. Highly recommend for anyone who's looking for inspiration for their home campaign to hear how smart story can entirely change the player experiencePros: The story dives right in and feels different and weird. I love that. I instantly had my expectations subverted and that's the best way to get me captured into a plot.Cons: There are some audio issues throughout mostly involving inconsistency across mics. That inconsistency, and some of the deadspace that could be edited out, always took me back out and reminded me I was listening to a story rather than enveloping me in.
I really liked this podcast. It feels like you are sitting at the table with them! I like the characters and the effort they put in at role playing. I am curious to learn more about the story and the setting! Highly recommend! -DicePop Crew
