"Before photography visual artists painted, etched, or drew images they envisioned on paper, board, or canvas. Itinerant painters made a living painting people. Since antiquity, those were methods artists used to express themselves. The transition to the visual arts produces artificially though a camera was considered illegitimate from real art for many years since it did not involve accompanying emotional pain. You cannot easily explain the subject of art. I think something lies within each of us: some can express it as painters, others through creative writing, of song, still others by mechanical means. Not everyone can do those things. But that doesn't mean they cannot enjoy what they see, read or hear." - David Henschel
