First off, I love Wendy Zukerman. She's funny, punny and just a delight in general. She is genuinely excited about the subjects and it's easy to hear. In my opinion, Wendy and her team are very good at triangulating the information and viewing the subject from different sides. This podcast is very insightful. Whether you're a kid or an adult, you'll be enlightened in many ways.
Sketchy science, propagating nonsense such as "mRNA vaccines don't affect fertility" when the FDA itself said they have not enough data - and it's completely obvious since there isn't enough time to know this. And that's just one example. The advice on that podcast episode kept me and my family from getting covid or treating it at home. Of course the Pfizer-linked team at science vs will do anything in their power to push for their masters. Also incredibly annoying voice. This woman just doesn't have the voice for radio.
I initially enjoyed listening but then started noticing a bias when addressing hotbutton issues, like climate change, gun violence, COVID etc. They would cherry pick their information to fit the PC narrative.
They tackle some complex topics and make them entertaining, but I would prefer more science and less personality-based chatting.
My go-to science podcast! It's also a bonus that the host is an Aussie.
Extremely well-researched science podcast. Their current season is focused on COVID-19, but their back catalogue contains a lot of episodes on a wide variety of topics. They have discussions with top notch scientists from around the world and present the information in a very accessible way. There is a lot of production value (I've heard some people complain that it is over-produced or has too many sound effects, but it hasn't bothered me). I'm a scientist, and I've been impressed with both the level of scientific information being presented and how easy it is to consume.
I really like this podcast, but this last season and the end of season 12 have fallen off in quality. Rose does not have near enough energy to host the show, unfortunately. If Rose was the host when I began listening I would not have come back for more. The latest episode on Adderall was disappointing. I expected a nuanced discussion of why the drug is good for those with ADHD and what happens in the brain of those without ADHD as well as the historical context of Adderall and its prescription (or overprescription). I seem to recall every rowdy child being told they needed the drug and targeted pandemic ads trying to get more adults on the drug. Unlike previous episodes, the creators totally skirt issues like this which I think is a total disservice to listeners. This was not a full picture this felt more like getting citations together to prove an already decided conclusion.
Always really thought provoking topics presented in a quirky and engaging format. I love hearing Aussie voices and Wendy's puns are always on point.
Listen, this is a great podcast up until the woke BS starts flying. It’s clear as time has went on that this podcast has moved away from pure science to left leaning garbage just like every other form of media. If we can keep out the left ideology, the woke culture, the BS….. this podcast would be perfect. Earlier days were amazing, I love science, so how about keeping it strictly to what science says and what science is about. Stop trying to cater to everyone’s stupidity and worrying about offending someone. Science doesn’t make friends or enemies, it doesn’t offend to hurt or glorify to kiss ass. It just is…… you will get 5 stars when I stop hearing about the aforementioned issues in my eyes. Truly love the rest of the podcast meat and potatoes, wonderful!
Like Bill Nye The Science Guy's old show, but for adults and focusing on controversial topics. Sometimes a little too wacky and overuses sound effects, but does a great job of covering complicated subjects in a way that's easy to digest and well sourced.
This podcast had become my favourite science podcast. I have been listening for a couple of seasons now and I always look forward to this one downloading. The peer reviewed references are something no other podcasts seem to do. Well done Wendy and Crew.
I love learning new things in a casual, chatty, dorky way so of course I love this podcast! There's a bit of fluff (saw other reviews complaining) but I love it!
I like the information, but the production is so noisy and frankly, distracting. I was trying to give it an honest chance until I got to an episode about the chiropractor where I was subjected to extremely visceral sounds of cracking joints, which just put me off.
Lots of great facts in this podcast, but I have an issue with them claiming that they are not pro-anything. They brought on a doctor who shared a story about crying while removing a kicking baby during a medical abortion. Bringing in sob stories is NOT sharing facts and absolutely shows a stance on abortions. This is not an unbiased podcast.
This podcast was already in my sight before it was part of Gimlet and later Spotify. It's an interesting approach to scientific topics with the very enthousiastic Wendy as the host. Now that the episodes are not exclusive anymore for Spotify-listeners, it's again the podcast for which I automatically download and listen to the newest episodes.
The host is great. Wish they would release a few more episodes. It's been a while...
Wendy Zuckerberg is the Bill Nye of Science Podcasts. Her love of knowledge is infectious and she pares difficult concepts down so that science dummies like myself can easily digest them. Production value is aces.
Like nerding out and awful (great!) puns, with science as the driver? Then this is the podcast you need to check out. Wendy and the whole team make me laugh (and show that scientists have a sense of humor too), while doing deep dives into really interesting topics. Great for my morning commute!
Wendy is an amazing host. And her show is extremely well researched. Only downside is the advertising choices.
You'll learn something new in every episode!
