THIS IS SUCH AN AMAZING PODCAST!!! I CAN'T WAIT FOR MORE EPISODES TO COME OUT!!!!!!
Absolutely incredible writing and unique, immersive sound design. This show is unlike anything else in the best way, gives a beautiful take on disability and sound, and I so dearly hope it reaches lots of people.
This show is just starting out and I love it. Bet is such an instantly likable protagonist and the relationships so fully established right out of the gate. I would do highly recommend listening to all of the prequel episodes before jumping into the main season, as I really think they make the first episode that much more instantly engaging.
Brilliant writing, sound design, and performances. An absolute treat to listen to!
This gives me massive and wonderful Fleabag vibes: an honest story and a charismatic protagonists. I joined the "give Bet a hug 2020 campaign" and you should listen to this podcast and join too.
The only audio show that can leave me happy, sad and hungry in equal measure! Following the story of Bet Klein as she comes to terms with hearing loss and her new place in the world. The narrative is intimate and real. It doesn't try and tell some epic story of overcoming adversity - it's a snapshot of a life in flux. As such, it always feels real and never over-dramatic. The relationships between Bet and David and Bet and her family, feel like real relationships. Their own struggles feel like real struggles - in particular the way the show deals with David's OCD.This audio drama left me absolutely floored and I regularly find myself thinking of it and returning to its world.
A wonderfully personal and poetic and so many other amazing things podcast. It's a truly human story, ripe with emotions, fears, and frustration. Well written, well performed, well edited. All around well done!
A story that explores the challenges of gaining a disability (becoming deaf/HOH) later in life, focusing on the main character's relationship with family and new friends. Includes a messy family of people who love each other and still hurt each other with miscommunication. The conversations felt realistic, from a tense familial dynamic to the budding friendship. The sound design is effective in places for showing the reality of the protagonist's situation. I loved the representation of a Jewish character and how that aspect of the main character's identity is incorporated.
Seen and Not Heard is many things. The cast is amazing, many moments in the show have brought me to tears. The sound design is superb throughout the whole run. This show deals with loss and self discovery in a truly unique and compelling way.
I Bet you’ll love this show. SANH has everything you’d look for in an Audio Drama. Sharp witty writing, subtle yet immersive sound design and stellar performances from the entire cast. The way Minear brings Mincks’ story to life in audio is not only impressive… its a masterclass in sound design and creative collaboration. And while all of this makes for a great listen, what’s really special about SANH is the heart behind the story.

This podcast is an absolute must listen. Not for fans of “this show” or “that show” but for EVERYONE. There’s so much more I could say about the specific lessons I’ve learned while listening to Seen and Not Heard, but I think you should hear them from Bet instead.
It's hard to get over how touching and honest this show is. The family dynamics are so perfectly realized - and oh, so relatable - that you're constantly filled with the urge to hug someone or smack the shit out of somebody - just like with your real family! I can't speak to the authenticity of the sound design, but I can say that it was impactful, propelled the storytelling forward and made the disconnect between Bet and the outside world all the more heart-wrenching. Most of all, I love that this isn't the story of a deaf woman, but a story that features a deaf woman at its center. I think that distinction is part of what makes this story feel so grounded to me. Love love love this series.
There's little to say about SaNH that hasn't been said before, but wow yes very good!
'Seen and Not Heard' is personal, beautiful, wonderful and heart-breaking. It doesn't come across like a drama which is trying to give you feelings, but it's just so well-written and so well voice-acted that you can't help but fall in love with these characters and open yourself up to what they're going through.Listening to this, I've smiled, laughed, felt indignation & frustration on behalf of the characters and just wanted to give Bet a massive hug (although I'm not sure that she'd appreciate it). In short, 'Seen and Not Heard' deserves to be on your playlist.
Something about Caro's writing is so warm & inviting that it lures you into a false sense of security before it changes you forever. It weaves into your heart & rearranges the wires. Tal Minear's sound design is a masterclass in subtlety & realism, plus the acting is flawless. One of my all time favorite pieces of media in anything, ever.
