Like many others, Serial was my first real dive into the world of podcasts. I'd listened to a couple of episodes of alt-right news shows here and there and kind of written podcasters off as nutjobs, and then one day at work, two coworkers were talking about the latest episode of this thing called Serial. As luck would have it, that turned out to be episode 6 of the first season. I was looking for something new on Netflix at the time and asked about it. And then... oh no, it's one of those podcast things.
I almost didn't give it shot, but they assured me that the show was nothing like the crap I'd heard previously. And man, am I glad I got bored with my CDs during my pizza delivery shift and checked out the first episode. Since that day, almost 6 years ago, I have been a fan of podcasts.
I agree with many others that the first season is the best, and I hope season 4 is a return to that form, but honestly, seasons 2 and 3 were excellent as well. The series and the reporting were able to grow, and unlike a lot of other shows, things didn't get stale as the show has gone on.
I look forward to season 4, and I hope it happens before the world implodes! There is a reason I've been subscribed to Serial as long as I've listened to podcasts.
