Hello! My name is Ken. As a fellow podcaster, I know how important reviews can be to creators like us. That’s why, in the spirit of the season, I’ve decided to give your podcast 5 stars. If you’re also feeling in a giving mood, feel free to review mine as well! It’s called PRRP, which stands for Podcast Reviews Reviews Podcast. (It’s a podcast that reviews the reviews of its podcast.) Happy holidays!
phenomenal, even though the journalism part is a little bit biased but we are all humans.
First steps into the podcast world listening to the compelling true situations. Serial challenges your thoughts & assumptions.
Like many others, Serial was my first real dive into the world of podcasts. I'd listened to a couple of episodes of alt-right news shows here and there and kind of written podcasters off as nutjobs, and then one day at work, two coworkers were talking about the latest episode of this thing called Serial. As luck would have it, that turned out to be episode 6 of the first season. I was looking for something new on Netflix at the time and asked about it. And then... oh no, it's one of those podcast things. I almost didn't give it shot, but they assured me that the show was nothing like the crap I'd heard previously. And man, am I glad I got bored with my CDs during my pizza delivery shift and checked out the first episode. Since that day, almost 6 years ago, I have been a fan of podcasts. I agree with many others that the first season is the best, and I hope season 4 is a return to that form, but honestly, seasons 2 and 3 were excellent as well. The series and the reporting were able to grow, and unlike a lot of other shows, things didn't get stale as the show has gone on. I look forward to season 4, and I hope it happens before the world implodes! There is a reason I've been subscribed to Serial as long as I've listened to podcasts.
Best podcast I listen to.
I love the way they tell their stories and the way they engage the audience, I love the choice in stories, the only problem I have is I don't always understand what they're talking about as I am not from the USA but from the UK and I get lost
The first podcast! Listen to season 3, it's the most important.
rating 5 stars for the first season
The one that started it all for me! Season 1 was so addicting and got me into podcasting hardcore! Love it!
It was nice to listen to the first podcast ever made! /s In all seriousness, it would've been better if I listened to it at the peak of its popularity, but it was good anyway.
This is the gateway podcast for so many people. I'd been listening to podcasts for many years when the hype for this one built up, and I enjoyed it just as much as everyone else who listened. The love for the show for most people ends after season 1's focus on Adnan Syed, but I'll defend both Season 2 and *especially* Season 3 as wholly interesting explorations of aspects of justice that I hadn't considered or researched before. Definitely start with Season 1 and enjoy that roller coaster...then give Season 2 a chance. If it's not your cup of tea, listen to Season 3 for sure!
Who knew vocal fry could be so addictive. Season 1 was excellent and I will fight anyone who says otherwise. A merging of old crime and new minds shining a modern light on an old murder case.
Incredible first season, it was a landmark podcast for bringing the medium to the masses. The second was a massive let down, so much do that I struggled to listen to it all. Season 3 was very good and got the podcast back on track.
One of the first podcasts I ever listened to - got me really interested in well-done True Crime reporting. KUDOS, SARAH!
Excellent topics and story telling. Also I love Sarah Koenig.
I loved the new direction taken in season 3!
If you want to know what the podcast truly means, you need to listen to Serial.
Serial was my first deep dive into the world of podcasts. Life changing for me for sure as it opened the door for me to listen to other shows, eventually host a show, and take part in a wonderful community of mostly like minded thinkers. But, like most of the other reviews, mine echos them in that Season one was certainly the best. And it is the only reason I can still give the show three stars. Season two I seemed to enjoy more than most however, season three was such a significant disappointment to me that I could not finish the season. The show is a must listen for everyone as its an experience I believe no one should be deprived of but I'd venture to say that the first season is the only one really worth finishing.
First season was good then it went down hill
