In the Bible, there are numerous examples of Christians who have been discouraged — Moses, Jeremiah, Elijah, David and Job just to name a few. So what does God have to say about discouragement? Are you a bad Christian if you struggle with depression? Does having anxiety or depression mean that your faith is flawed? 

For a long time, mental illnesses such as anxiety and depression have been deeply misunderstood by many people including people within the church. For many of us, there is so much shame associated with depression that we often hide our struggles with mental health. 

We keep them hidden from our family, our friends and even from God. In today's episode, I talk about mental health within the Christian community along with my own struggles with depression. I also offer some hope and encouragement for Christians suffering from depression while helping you to understand that God's love covers every suffering we could ever go through and that even in our darkest moments God's promises still ring true. God will never leave you. He will never forsake you, and He will wipe every tear from your eye.
